Grim Fandango

I just finished Grim Fandango for the first time in years. God I love that game! If it weren't for the horrible control system (further hampered by the bugginess of the XP rerelease version I have), it would knock Psychonauts off the top of my all-time favourite game list. And yet, I think I probably like both games for much the same reasons.

Grim has such a fantastic ending. I still tear up a little every time as Manny says goodbye to Glottis and the train crawls in to the temple.

The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys are my favorite games, I had the same issue playing GF though, bugginess, etc...

Isn't Grim Fandango best used with a joystick?

I suppose it could be. My problem was more to do with the way the character moves than my keyboard control. There are times when you enter a new screen and rather than continuing in a straight line, you veer off in to another direction and end up somewhere you don't want to go. EXAMPLE: Going up the stairs from the betting area of the cat-track, I'll often end up in the blimp security office, rather than heading straight for the bridge.

oh come on, people reading this will have either played the game and finished it, or are trying to get in with Nate. spoilers on such an old/reverred game I think are not neccessary

OR they saw the title and thought 'Hmm, theres one o' those games I never got whilst I was a nipper'. But yeah, I don't really give a damn about spoilers I'll probably forget .
