You know what sucks?

Posted 06-23-2008 at 11:43 AM by Munch's Master
When you've got absolutely nothing to do, and you KNOW you won't have for a long time. For instance, I have finished my exams and have spent the past week sat around, twiddling my thumbs. I've even resorted to playing my old Pokemon games, I'm that utterly bored.

I want a part time job, but go on holiday soon so there's no point in doing that for weeks either. So the fact is- it really sucks when you've got nothing to do.

Any suggestions on how to relieve the boredom?

Download Game Maker and start joining the online sensation.
Speed write your fic.
Try your hand at composing music using a keyboard program.
Live on an online forum.
Live on MSN.
Try to complete I Wanna Be The Guy
And as a very last resort buy World of Warcraft.

Do not try to do all of these at once or you will end up like me and never get any done.

Like WoF suggested, try something creative and productive. Right now, I'm screwing around on Windows Movie Maker when I'm not not busy with anything else.

Approach random person, wrap said person in a bear hug, then run away as fast as humanly possible.

Its twice as fun if you actually have somebody there to film you doing it.

Why buy WoW when you can try it for free (according to Mr T)?

And don't stop at WoW. Get a free trial from EVE Online. Loads of fun, and if your pockets are feeling empty, try one of the numerous free online games for PC. I personally recomend Silkroad Online. It lagged a lot when I played it back in 06, but it may have improved since then. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, Kal Online is also pretty fun.

WoW kept me occupied for a whole year, but be warned: It's very, very highly addictive if you play it with your friends/make new friends on there.

Still, I know that feeling. But like everyone else has said, find something productive. There's tons and tons of things out there to do. . . And if you can't be bothered to do anything productive and just wanna sit about online, I will recommend:

http://www.darkroastedblend.com/ - Links to interesting crap, updates regularly, tons of pictures and things to read.

http://www.tv-links.cc/ - Steaming TV, not exactly legit, but what is in this day and age?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ - British streaming BBC TV from the last week. Yay.

http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid/ - Computer Stupidities, funny to read.

http://www.b3ta.com/questions/ - B3ta's Question of the Week section - Nothing else I've read has ever made me laugh so damned hard.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vide...ro-punctuation - Yahtzee's game reviews update weekly. This guy is a genius.

http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php - Got some money? Buy some games. All downloadable. Played Portal yet? There's a Demo out.

http://www.openttd.com/ - This game is free (just ask me and I'll give you the graphics files you'll need to install it) and pretty addictive (if you're into Sim City type games). It's a remake of an old classic that gets updated regularly - Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe. You basically build your own transport company and get new vehicles over time, linking up industries and towns, with the option of building complex train networks. It's pretty versitile and customisable - Lots of settings to play around with and interchangeable graphics (new trains, etc). Comes with a map editor, and also you can play online vs other players if you want. Though you'll probably also want to look through the tutorial. Well at least I find it fun.

WoW has never really appealed to me. I know a couple of people who are addicted to it and it's just....scary. Eve Online perhaps, though.

I've been meaning to sort out learning to play a musical instrument but I keep procrastinating. Same with my attemtps to start really getting into shape.

I suppose I just need to stop lounging about like a lazy arse.

horia, I can't be online al lthe tme. You sent that at 7am my time- I only went to sleep at 1am, I wasnt' up till 11.

But of course, I've now had more ultra shit news- I expected to be meeting up with a bunch of friends on holiday this year. Turns out that they all booked separately and not many of us are going at the same time, so I won't be meeting up with them all this summer and maybe just 1 or 2 of them. And of course, the one I get on with best out of them isn't there at the same time. Woohoo.
