He's never seemed particularly capable of addressing an audience that has moved beyond puberty. He should be called Pubey Pie.

I couldn't even stand a minute of his commentary. The biggest mystery of the universe is how the fuck does he have 33 million subscribers.

Pewd has a strong personality, he's energetic, he has a good camera presence and he's a natural performer. There are no surprises that he's popular, even if we're all grumpy old men who dislike him.

Not to mention the work he puts into each video...

I don't think he's funny. He plays some funny games, and I could see how some of his reactions could be considered funny to someone who enjoys that "over-the-top-reaction" shit, but it just seems so damn fake to me. Even if I was assured his reactions were always 100% realistic and honest, I still wouldn't find them very funny.

But that's me. I prefer Let's Players that use their words in order to stand out. Not their shrieks and facecams.

For anyone wondering, a great example of the above would be HarshlyCritical. I've been watching his videos for about a year now and I can safely say he's definitely my favourite let's player. He never acts OTT and actually provides interesting commentary about the game he's playing. Also, as his name suggests, he doesn't blindly praise every game he plays like 99% of other LPers, if the game's shit he'll go into detail about why he thinks that, and he actually calls games out on their bullshit. It's especially funny watching him play terrible indie jumpscare games, it's not his reactions that are funny, it's the fact that he doesn't react. He'll just look to the camera and sigh or some shit.

Anyway, that's enough for my in-depth review of HarshlyCritical.
