Black Ops 2 buyers get Mass Effect 2 by mistake

Posted 11-13-2012 at 09:06 AM by AlexFili
Thought this was a funny little mix-up.

Gamers on the Steam community forums, Reddit and the Call of Duty forums are reporting that when they try to install disc 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, they instead get Mass Effect 2. So that’s what Treyarch meant when they said they were adding moral choices to the campaign.

I see no connection between Mass Effect 2 and moral choices.

Clearly EA is trying to take some of the CoD player base.

How the fuck do you even get a game from another developer and publisher on your disc by mistake?

As few people should be submitted to the untold horror of Black Ops 2 any way. I call this a miracle.

And face the untold horror of ME2? The same kind of evil to me.

To be honest I'd rather be ejected into the Sun rather than play either. But it's like Obama v Romney, you have to pick the lesser of the two evils.

too funny. I'd be pissed. Mass Effect is boring. Zombie killing is fun.

Yeah, the DVDs are probably produced by the same people even if they have different publishers.

This is amazing.

Gets better now:

Company says it will offer a free PC copy of Mass Effect Trilogy to the first 50 players who can prove their retail copy of Black Ops II included a Mass Effect 2 disc

Like they didn't suffer enough ordeal from ME2 alone

How exactly do you prove that...

You don't really. They just need to take a picture of the Mass Effect 2 disc in the Black Ops 2 case. Which proves nothing. I'm not sure Bioware cares that much, though. Free publicity am good.

I think the disc looked just like the CODBLOPS: Laxatives for Men one. It's just the actual data on it was that for the ME2 install.

But no, this does look like a publicity stunt. They've done equally ridiculous things in the past.
