I was going to ask him, but I've bugged him about science-related stuff before so I didn't want to be overbearing.

I take offense to the implication I don't know what quantum physics is.

Hell, I take some offense everytime someone asnwers a question with 'Ask BM'. It's like the cessation of learning.

Quantum mechanics are mechanics that happen on levels of atoms, and subatoms, and energy.

i find quantum mechanics sort of scary... and sexy.

I bet Bill Nye could explain it in a way we could all understand.
With funny sound effects too.

Quantum singularities, singularities, black holes and quasars are scary. Now add a pulsar and you have a nice field of death and radiation.Thats scary.

Quantum Mechanics deals with very small things like Atoms, Neutrons, Electrons, Molecules, etc.

General Relativity deals with large things like planets, stars, people, etc. Unfortunately, General Relativity won't work with Quantum Mechanics and completely contradicts it. This is a problem when trying to explain stuff like Black holes because they are very small yet have a lot of mass.

This is why scientists are trying to reconcile General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. One way is by using a theory of everything such as String Theory.

My (mis?)understanding of Quantum Mechanics is that it's all the theories and hypotheses we've cooked up pertaining to the really tiny intricate stuff that appears to form the backbone to how our Universe works but we don't know anything about for sure.

Also it usually means shit that is the colour blue. Lazers and refractors and so on

Basically, Our Lord the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom™, created a complex dimensional layer of constantly fluctuating systemic submechanisms that define the boundaries of our reality through mutual interference, in order to stop us getting too up ourselves and thinking we don't need him any more.
