HE MAKES ME ANGRY. And Crystal Castles are little thieving cunts as well.

http://createdigitalmusic.com/2008/0...mmons-license/

The latest episode combines 8-bit musical plagiarism with an abuse of Creative Commons licenses. Crystal Castles is a Toronto-based band that’s gotten quite a lot of positive press for their use of 8-bit sounds, including a keyboard with an Atari chip. (And there’s the source of the problem: this stuff is "hot" partly because it’s novel to mainstream press.)
Unfortunately, some of Crystal Castles’ sound apparently isn’t their their own.

8-bit collective again noticed something is amiss, this time with their track "Insecticon." Far from simply sampling a track, the tune rearranges entire musical contents as the basis of the new tune. (Many in the 8-bit collective community at least claim they’re pro-sampling.)

noone here probably knows it's going on, but chiptune thievery is gaining popularity.

THEY FULL ME WITH HATE

I hate theft of art. It is very, very unnecessary. I can't see why people couldn't just cover a song if they liked it. They must be real dickheads if they want all the credit.

Yeah, that thing Timbaland did there - pretty disgusting. I remember there was a thread about this a while back on Gamingforce - he was actually interviewed on a radio show and this question came up, because it was so similar (read: identical).

His response?
"Tch, 's just game music."

Guess he's the only real artist there is, huh.

God, I hate people who do that. What kind of dipshit thinks he could possibly get away with something like stealing music? Music can be heard by anyone anywhere in the world, so how the hell can they think they can get away with it?

Edit: That song doesn't even sound worth stealing. >:C

Oh this kind of work raping is NOTHING compared to the Orphaned Works bill.

Fucking American senate.

So nothing is done about this??
People keep complaining but do nothing. Stop complaining unless you plan actually doing something to stop this. No wonder they get away with it.

As much as I hate to say this T-nex - you're right, people should stop complaining. But the only reason Timbaland gets away with this is due to popularity, a big pocket full of money and with that - lawyers. His excuse is poor, but it's enough to make people shrug it off - "it's just a sample", but it isn't.

Do people who have no affiliation to music at all have any idea what a sample really is? Most likely not.

I don't know.. But it's disgusting to see people in power getting away with everything.. :-/ Like all these things we see in the news. Either it's because the media is lying, or the population is simply too lazy and doesn't care... It shocks them when the news get out about the thing in particular, but it gets forgotten in the matter of days if nothing is being said about it further.
Rarely does anything ever happen. If you complain about something, please provide me with some possible actions to take to do something about these things...

You're right about everything you say, but trust me on this one - you're better off living your life and worrying about the stuff that actually affects you. I think that's the best contribution one could make. That, and looking out for other people.

Furthemore, to wrap this up - the case was actually in court and it has come to a closure. Seems like the original creator Janne Pori settled the case, but he won't go into any details.
