American Idol

Posted 01-31-2011 at 06:43 AM by T-nex
I sometimes watch American idol when I catch it. I dont have a TV so it's not very often.

What I often ask myself though... Why on earth are these people so crazed, hyped and obsessed with making it to the next stage? Like seriously. Some of them get absolutely heartbroken when they get a rejection from the judges.

I just don't get it. Did they seriously think they had a chance to make it out of the many thousands that apply? Do they seriously feel so entitled to making it that they have to cry and act as if the world just ended because they got a rejection? X_x
I simply don't understand this behaviour.

I mean really.. It's just a competition. Held once a year. If you really base your hopes on making it in the music industry on this show, then I doubt you really belong anyway. Jeez x_x

Like... They should prepare themselves mentally for rejection and at least be happy to have been on the show and met these super-duper-stars or whatever. No need to cry, as there are plenty of other paths to making it.

And really, American Idol stardom will only take them so far.

They are heartbroken because the establishment has failed to recognise how individual, talented and unique they are.

They are beautiful snowflakes, crushed beneath the designer boots of Paula Abdul.

I've never watched. Not interested.

They get heartbroken because some of them trained really hard to try to impress the judges and get noticed. They probably know that they have a very slim chance of making it to the finals, but they still worked very hard, and so when the judges tell them to get lost because they suck, they get really let down. Why is that hard to understand?

Everyone that comes out of those types of shows anyways fade away after a year (exception Leona Lewis) and most of them are talentless cunts with Simon Cowell pulling the strings to make them dance for the audience.

Ziggy that's not very hard to understand, and I don't really care.

Either way, the point is... That a stupid tv competition should not mean this much to them. To me it'd be kind of of the same as if they didn't win the lottery and then cry: But this was my chance!! I saved up my whole life for this!

They would have been in the same situation if it wasn't for the competition... So it's really just a bonus.

And yea, they are probably very emotional and want it very badly. But god, they should really prepare themselves. Also it would have been nice if they didn't have friends and family who don't sugarcoat the truth and tell them they can sick.

Also I kind of feel bad for the people who win(Well not really), cos they'll kind of lose their freedom I believe. But then again, if their joy is only to sing, and they are fine with someone controlling their career, everyone's happy, and then I'm happy too for them I guess.

It'd be nice to have a somewhat more unique show at some point where people compete to write their own songs and do something creative for once =D
