The rambunctious reign of kool-King Simon

Posted 10-04-2010 at 01:23 PM by Mac Sirloin
So, for whatever reason, my instructor at Stream (the call centre I'm being trained to work at) decided to accept the suggestion that she call me 'King Simon.' She does this with much relish, and her only condition was that I, on occasion, refer to her as "Your Highness".

As you could guess, this has pretty much swollen my ego into the realm of Grandiosity. I'm better than everyone. I'm King Simon.

So anyway, Stream is not nearly as soul crushing as I would have thought. It's boring, on occasion, but still a pretty nice place. It's about an hour away on foot, which makes for a very crisp and refreshing walk. Since I spend roughly 8 hours a day sitting on my ass there, I've decided to start walking to and from it, in the hope of losing weight and being "King Simon, the funniest, coolest, smartest King of any undersized training group Stream has ever seen."

or something

I used to work in a shop when I was about eighteen. All I got called was "Sambo". It was shit.

Back when I used to do telephone customer support, I was known as 'Nathan'.

They weren't particularly original thinkers.

In telephone customer support? Really?

My nickname in high school (though it was only used commonly by a few) was "Goobs". Recently, I have been called "Reptar."

Well, truth be told, I was the only one in the company that was actually doing the support. Everyone else had the jobs I was hoping to be promoted in to.

Working at a holiday centre I was 'Spam', or occasionally 'Wonderful Spam'.

I would love to call a call centre and here, "Hello, you have reached Customer Support; my name's King Simon. How may I help you?"
Or somesuch thing.

Back when I worked in a phone room I was referred to by the management as "Oh no, he's going to talk again".

I'm debating whether or not I can actually say King Simon to customers. My trainerlady said that it was alright, but I would be stuck with it. Plenty of reps use fake names.

Your trainer lady doesn't value her job very highly.

She didn't specify King Simon. She said that we're allowed to use an alternate name when taking calls.
