Don't you hate it when people post obnoxious text at the top of their blog and you have to scroll past it every time you want to read what they've posted? Man, I really hate that.

Bzzing lamps...

To understand all that follows, you must also understand that my bed, which I've had since I was young, is basically like a bunk bed but with the top bunk only, so you get more floor space underneath, which is good when you're ten and have the smallest room in the house.

It looks a lot like this...

(The bin and the wall banner are about the same age as the bed - and I didn't even like Nintendo back then).

So, I have two desk lamps in my room, one on the 'desk' under the bed, because it can be pretty dark down there, (Lamp Position A) and one on top of the tall, thin thing beside my bed, next to my head so I can read in bed and such (Lamp Position B).

The lamp which normally resides in LP B has recently started an irritating habit of buzzing loudly when it's been left on for a while. Ok, it's not that loud, but if you're reading or surfing the net quietly, it's like a fly buzzing against a window. It's slightly older and definitely more frequently used than the lamp in LP A, so I decided to remedy the problem by switching them around, so this morning I rather precariously tugged the shelf thing it sits on away from the wall (only one thing fell off and it wasn't a heavy thing, so it went surprisingly well), groped behind it, tugged it out further, finally got the plug to the lamp out of the wall, moved the lamp, put the other lamp in its place, spent a long time trying to plug it in, which involved pulling the shelves out further, finally got it on, got the shelves back in position and congratulated myself on a job well done.

Unfortunately it has transpired that despite being younger and less used, the other lamp buzzes even worse than the first one, so I am less than pleased.

In other news, here is a video about elves.

My bed, looks almost exactly the same as yours. And I've had for about as long.

In other news, just turn it off if it's buzzing. Of course, if you're groping for the keyboard and trying to type something, then I can see your dilemma, in which case, I have no advice to hand out.

Yeah, trying to read or type in complete darkness at night takes some skills I sadly lack.

Shine the screen on the keyboard, and learn to live with only the screen's light.

After reading:

I had to think of all the smug fucks that own a Kindle. God I hate them.

Candles.

But yeah, buzzing electronics can be annoying. The speakers I have for the computer are more than 15 years old now, and one of them starts this buzzing after a while when plugged in. Delivering a few light hits usually fixes it though.

I swapped them back. I guess I'll just have to keep jiggling the lamp when it buzzes and leave it at that.
