Sorry, pheasant (sorry). Someone she knows gave it to her around Christmas and she finally plucked up (hahahaha) the courage to take it out of the freezer and cook it. She has a whole anecdote based around that process.
So now I can add pheasant to the list of foods I have eaten.
Pheasant is kinda dry, but tastes a lot like duck. As with chicken, the tastiest bits are the legs.
The same woman also gave mum a rabbit, but my stepdad won't eat rabbit as he says he once saw one skinned and gutted and it's put him off them for life. Damn you Max the Vegan; you win this time!
I have eaten rabbit once before at my oldest sister's house and liked it.
Mum's gonna cook it when we have a guest around some time, and my stepdad will probably feed himself that day.
In other news, I've needed a bookcase for years and now have one from Ikea (hooray!)
It is the first flat-packed piece of furniture I have ever assembled alone so I am feeling most triumphant.
I have a shelf dedicated mostly to Doctor Who DVDs and soundtracks, and by tomorrow will have one dedicated to Discworld, when I get round to it.
Geekery rocks!
When I'm done sorting I will probably post some photos in 'Cool Shizzle you Own'.
And in conclusion, my bedroom now smells of sawdust.
In other news, I have
A. a new mouse that works (HOORAY!)
B. finally found someone with the time, effort and expertise to sort out my laptop, which basically meant deleting everything it contains and reinstalling it all, which had successfully stopped it crashing, thought certain things such as resetting the internet network, changing the volume and putting it into hibernation have become minor issues, and I've lost all my awesome fonts and all of my favourites since I started using Google Chrome.
But never mind! I am happy now I can watch DVDs and watch youtube and iPlayer videos and listen to music without having to worry about it frying my laptop.
C. managed to use several funky oddicons in this blog entry, for a variety of unlikely reasons. Yarr.
