Stolen character design?

Posted 12-10-2009 at 04:35 PM by ~Oprilthevykker~
Does it not seem like "Tremor's series"
May have took the design of a slog and turned it into one of the Graboids?.. The shrieker?
I'm not trying to say they did it for the sake of it.

But maybe they did use some features of a Slog in making it. Perhaps they meant for the Graboids to be a sort of Oddworld creature that crash landed on earth???.. It seems like the bone structure of some creatures laying in the fields at the first of Munch's oddysee could be that of a graboid. Below, a side by side picture of the two.

Maybe someone from the Oddworld team made the Tremor movies?

I really think you should keep these blogs to Oddworld discussion.

Anyway I don't really have anything to say on the matter. Nice pic?

One of the designers from Oddworld went on to help do designs for that movie I think, it seems to ring several bells anyway.

Been noticed many times before. Farzad Varahramyan did do some concept art for Stampede Entertainment before joining OWI, but Slogs were designed by Steve Olds. It's almost certainly coincidence.

Opril, could you please post this kind of Oddworld content in the Oddworld Discussion forum, it's not really suitable for the blogs.

The body, no. It's the coat, hat ensemble along with the name of the album I find coincidental.

This is gonna get completely out-of-hand.

Wait a second...

I heartily apologise for the pathetic joke shown above.
And for not bothering to properly sort out the formatting.

But no, two characters can have similar inspiration without being ripoffs of each other. There are tons of characters inspired by Clint Eastwood's Man wi' no Handle. Including Stranger.
Your hand is a ripoff of a paramite's face, you naughty person, you.
Rip off once source and it's plagiarism, but rip off many and it's research.

There was a point to this, but it has temporarily eluded my memory.
