Personal firewall suggestion.

What are you using now? i use Norton 360, it seems to work very well.

Norton is my recommendation right now (wouldn't have been a few years ago, but they really got their act together). But Norton you have to pay for.

I believe Mcafee has a good free firewall (not virus scan, though), or Zonealarm (which I used to use a long damn time ago before I decided to pay for my security software).

In all honesty though, if you can spare the bucks for a subscription with any good internet security software package, I'd seriously consider it. Viruses, hackers and mallware are, unfortunately, a real problem we have to deal with. 50 bux for a subby is worth it to me to keep my 2000 dollar rig safe. But that's different per person of course.

If you're using a router to connect tot he internet, that has a firewall built in, why bother with a personal one? They're all fucking turd.

Windows Firewall is pretty solid by now, since they've hadto update it to stay on top over the years. Most seperate security packages hog your system like nothing else, so you'll see a drop in performance. Avast! and AdAware are good low-calorie options.

malware bytes or change to ubuntu , but don't delete windows cause that the mistake i made , use ubuntu while surfing the net , and disconnect when using windows , like that u will be totally virus proof.

My (other) computer is infected with adware. It's the most fucking annoying thing of all time.

Software firewalls slow down your computer, your internet, take up memory and are pretty useless compared to router-based firewalls.

Guys I'm using my Windows Vista's firewall and I'm not using a router, I don't want to get an Internet Security because it's too expensive for me (my father told me I must use my money)... I need a simple free firewall, not something hard... Thank you for your help!

How do you connect to the internet if you don't have a router?
