Weird Virus: "Cannot open EXE"

Okay so I randomly found a computer virus (I still have no idea how I got it). I turn on my PC, click on the MSN Messenger shortcut...

"What program would you like to open msnmsgr.exe?"

My face at this point is like What?!

Took me a few minutes to find the solution to the problem, but those were the most trippy minutes of my life...

Anyone else had similar problems?

How can you tell it's a virus? Did you do a scan?

Lol, that doesn't really sound like a virus, that sounds like someone moved the location of yr MSN installation. (version upgrade perhaps?)

It was every single EXE file. I fixed my registry and did a scan, it was definately a virus.

oh, that is weird then. my only similar situation is that when i got a weird virus, clicking on any drives/folders would pop up a "memory location missing" alert and the only way to navigate through everything was by going 'explore' to each folder.
