THIS CHANGES NOTHING

I went to a Mental Hospital in Kingston yesterday. Prominent symptoms of ADHD were discovered.

I got a little bottle of Ritalin, to be taken in 20MG increments for 3 days, then , after I'm used to it, moving on to 40MG.

So I have a learning disability.

Heh.

One of my nephews are ADHD positive. I doubt you're as bad as him. He's chuffing nuts (and I mean that in the best possible sense). But mind you, you may well be. Bottom line is, nobody will care if you have it as long as you aren't too annoying. That's how it is with my nephew.

Hey, don't knock it. Hot food and no housework.

Unless it's one of those crappy "rehabilitation" hospitals, for people with hope. There they try to wean you off dependency.

Why were you at a mental hospital?

I was diagnosed with ADHD as well when I was young. I took ritalin until I was around thirteen. It feels creepy remembering it.

We were, specifically, at the Psychiatric Wing of the Hospital. I thought it was a Mental Hospital until yesterday.

I like mental patients, they make me smile.

Take that as you will.

We have a family friend whose kid had the worst case of ADHD that any of his teacher's had ever seen. And he'd had plenty of teachers, seeing as he'd been kicked out of three schools.

His parents took him to America to meet the doctor who first diagnosed ADHD and who invented Ritalin. The guy now writes paper after paper about how terrible and unnecessary ADHD drugs are. He prescribed the kid a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and artistic outlets and now, three years later, you wouldn't recognise him. A completely normal, well mannered - if slightly cheeky - teenager.

Now, I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to tell you to stop taking the Ritalin. But I think you should maybe look at the other options for dealing with the ADHD.

This is just a Trial period. The doctor was extremely hesitant to prescribe me any sort of Medication for pretty much the same reasons. It also may or may not have made me extremely sickly yesterday, but that also could have been the undercooked pie I undercooked.

We're just finding out what the best course of action is.

Well that explains it.

Best course of action? Stay the course and sell the pills.

You're fine.
