Lorne has given a short interview to Gamasutra in which he describes his excitement and belief in digital distribution (being able to purchase and download content over the Internet rather than walking to the shops). In case you didn’t notice, Oddworld Inhabitants have
already told us they’ll be looking to release future games in this way, and have been testing the waters by re-releasing
Abe’s Oddysee and
Abe’s Exoddus on Steam and Good Old Games.
There’s nothing new here about what we can expect from OWI in terms of content. Lorne lists
Citizen Siege, ‘something new for
Oddworld’ (probably the game he’s been working with Jeff Braun on as well as the eventual feature film), and a third ‘Hollywood meets gaming’ project, which is likely the episodic machinima series he’s previously mentioned.
Two particular points I feel are important. Firstly, when the interview’s title says that Lorne is ‘Keeping the
Oddworld Archive Alive’, it is probably not a reference to the
Oddworld Archives. Secondly, when Lorne says ‘we own the
Oddworld library’, he is not talking about the
Oddworld Library.
As usual, credit goes to
