Oddworld Answer me this.....

Ok. I've played Abe's Oddysee for 5 years, searched every nook and cranny of Oddworld, and never rescued all 99 mudokons. I just gotta know. Is it possible to rescue all 99? Because the most I've ever rescued was 83.

I eventually found them all by crouching behind every rock or item that obstructs the floor, jumping down all the trapdoors, testing each elevating platform to see if it moved beyond its obvious limits and rolling into every wall and shadow I came across.

However, thus far, that hasn't worked for AE yet. There are still six missing.

Well, for AE, except for the first screen, there will ALWAYS be bottles full of soulstorm brew onscreen if theres a secret area thingy on that screen. LOOK HARD!

...As for Abes Oddysee, I have no idea how I can help you there.

Every time I play AE I get all 300 muds, but I just can't do it for AO, I always miss about six of them.

Most of the secrets in AE (except one) are marked by brew bottles. They're hard to miss once you know what you're looking for.

Oh wait...I missed Oddball's post.
Sorry...

But to add to the AO confusion, yeah. You've basically just gotta look everywhere and my advice is to roll into every wall you see, just in case. This also makes the game interesting
Oh, and crouch behind barrels and stuff that are jutting out. There's quite a bit of those too.

Yup, it just takes time, practice, and a bit of skill.
I am too lazy to read the thread, or rather don't have time (which ever you choose), but whether she mentioned it or not, Skillya has a nice walkthrough that you should use.

Definately check all shaded areas. There was this one shaded place right at the first panel of the Scrabanian Temple that I never noticed. Theys can be tricksy.

There was that one in Scrabania (the very last I found) in which you roll into solid rock! Not a shadow or foreground stone to be seen!

Wait a minute. Used, you said in the first panel of the Scrabanian temple, there's a secret area. CRAP! I already am in the 8 Scrabanian tests. Is there any way to go back? Please tell me there is. 'Cause on this file that I started 2 days ago I wanted to rescue every single mudokon.

Sorry, no way back. Abe’s Oddysee is a linear game, and once you leave an area, there’s no turning back. Don’t you have any earlier save games?

You noticed that as well, did you? Everyone I know just say I'm delusional because they don't appear to see the Soulstorm brew bottles (they did once, but they said it's a coincedence). I think with there being 300 mudokons (an awful lot) that Oddworld Inhabitants put the bottles in as a guide for the observant. What I find with Oddworld games is that if you don't observe the scenery, you'll find no secrets at all. On Abe's Oddysee, I like to look for some birds, as there are one or two bird portals on 'Stockyards', one of them being on the same scene as a chant suppressor to shake off the suspicion that there's a secret beyond the bird portal (the portal is also in the sahde, obviously). I always found it tricky to find all of the stockyards' secrets, but I got there (eventually).

Is it possible for there to be more than one secret in one screen in AO. If so, enlighten me.

There's somewhere on Abe's Oddysee (think at the end of Rupture Farms and at the beginning of the outside, at night) that you can read "all 28 mudokons died and YOU survived" or something like that. I think it's very, very, very difficult to save all 99 mudokons on Abe's Oddysee (and I played it for 3 years until my CD-ROM was lost by someone, I'm still looking for a new one, but here in Brazil it's pretty "impossible" - most people here prefer Counter Strike and The Sims, and every computer store here don't have much other games ), although I almost saved all the 300 mudokons on Abe's Exoddus (I could save 294 and failed on the very last part, where there's a bomb that explodes in 4 min - after about 80 tries, I gave up due to fatigue).

The last level was evil to me! I got to the escape well and Abe's air ran out, and I actually Quiksaved it when I got there, a very stupid thing to do. I had to resort to the invincibility code, I couldn't fail here. It took me a couple of times to try and put the code in before Abe died. But I made it, and finished the game!

I might. I have a saved game in the Paramonian temple, but I'm not sure if I went through Scrabania yet. I hope I didn't.

I liked the last level on AE - I thought it was a pretty easy level - same goes for the last level on AO.

Am I the only one here who made it through both games saving all of the Mudokons without cheats? Wow. I try them after I do everything just for fun, but face it, all they do is take the challenge out.

I didn't have any problems with the boiler in AE, I did get a bit frustrated though when I had to get the two Mudokons onto the platform. It took me quite a bit to get them to walk on there in time...
The Boardroom was a cinch. There's a platform under the clock (Almost typed: under the cock...) that you can grab onto and roll through to the meat saw screen that a lot of people don't know about. It saves you deactivating the bombs and such.

Yes, it's very difficult, but come on now, do you expect it to be easy? If you take into account the realism of the Oddworld games, the saving of the slaves was actually nothing to what it should have been.

Yeah, those levels were tough in my part. Although AO's Boardroom was actually fairly easy compared to the time rush. AE was more frustrating, espically when you realize you need 20 more seconds. But I made it without cheats. And I did it again, that time with all 300. The thrid time I believe was when I did it without the QuikSave. I need to do that game over again, really. Make sure I can do the game with all 300 saved and without QuikSave.

Oh gawd, I know what you mean about the time rush, Slaveless.

I'd be halfway through it, look at the time, and start to panic. Then I'd do stupid, risky stuff that killed me and made me start over. I'd get so pissed off.

And no, I'm not posting this to fill the Index with me as the most recent poster in all the forums.

No, your not the only one. Just yesterday, I finished both games and freed everyone in them without cheats. I was disappointed with AE's secret. Just a message about Munch.

And some concept art that was new if you didn't know of the existence of TOGG...
I tried to get at the killing bonus once. I think I killed everyone except for like...6 to 9 Mudokons (I don't remember the number exactly). They gave me the message, the killing bonus message, but it didn't work. Damn...

Yeah. I've forgotten what happened with the killing bonus though. I trained myself to be a real bastard to get it. I personally love the mudokons (not in a gay way), so I found it hard to have to kill them.
