Yeah, it looks very decent for a monthly episodic game. The animals are great.

The graphics look better than most Telltale games but not as good as I was hoping. The article is shit though. What's the goddamn point of doing an interview before fundamental gameplay mechanics have been decided on?

I'll probably end up getting this anyway, seeing as I generally do like Telltale's stuff.

The point of the article is selling magazines .

And the graphics aren't that good because it's an episodic game, being released monthly and it's being made by TT, a small company with various other monthly games being worked on at the moment. So they just adapted their engine for this.

It's pretty good considering that.

For the magazine, sure. But for Telltale, it's a marketting tool. And what's the point of creating a lukewarm PR buzz months and months in advance rather than true sizzle a short time before release?

Yes, thankyou Captain Obvious. As I said in my last post, I've played quite a few of TTG's episodic games. With the exception of The Devil's Playhouse, I've always been a little disappointed by the graphics but I've always accepted them for the reasons you gave. However, given that the original Jurassic Park film was so groundbreaking in its use of CG and the dinosaurs were so compelling, these games really needed to kick arse in the design and presentation of the models. Like I said, the images were better than I expected for Telltale, but not as good as I hoped.

The only thing that needs to be great here is the animations. As long as that's good they succeeded. They are just using a slightly modified version of their usual engine so it seems perfectly normal to me. Plus, the dinosaur models are great.

The only thing I do hope for is decent animations.

And don't forget that this game is going to be marketed at casual gamers. That, combined with the fact that they probably don't have much development time and that they can, thus, only use a slightly modified version of their engine, means that they need to make it compatible with older computers.

Sure, MW and MW2 had great graphics and great optimization but they also worked on stabilished engine (a hugely modified id4 engine). TT can't afford that.

Then again, I rather have the good story and puzzles than decent graphics.

I get that they're making it on a small budget and for casual gamers, but I'd prefer that they not make the game at all than make it badly.

You're assuming it's bad just because of the graphics? Or because it will also be released for the casual gamer market?

Because of the graphics. Low-poly count models work fine with Telltale's more cartoony adventure games, but the dinos need to be scary and not cheesy-looking for this game to have any level of tension.

Also, it's obvious they've used the technique of rendering the models at a high poly count and then using those images to create low-poly textures. Sometimes that works. This time it didn't.

And you're saying that without even watching a trailer for the game at least?

And since when are the dinos cheesy? Again, you haven't seen the animations at work yet.

Anyway, as long as the animations keep up I rather have this than Black Ops or Crysis.

We should definitely wait for more pics. And still, as long as the movements are great it doesn't really bother me, from TT I expect a good story and "just" decent graphics, something I haven't seen in this industry in a long time (with a few exceptions).

We still don't know much but the developer (which has experience in great adventure point & click games) said that it will still incorporate puzzles, but, at the same time, it will be a departure from their former games.

They said it will be heavy on tension and suspense.

Basically, they said that, despite the (mostly) cartoon point & click games that they also make, JP is a massive departure from that style. But it will still include a great story for the fans and a good puzzles.

Sadly, it has been confirmed that it won't feature T-Rexes in F-16 planes.

Don't worry, you'll get a great adventure from the guys at telltale (the devs).

Simply living up to the soundtrack is an unenviable task.

I believe that the awe and childlike wonder of Jurassic Park, especially as Hammond intended it to be, is the real magic and essence of it all.

The soundtrack will be there of course! It wouldn't be Jurassic Park without that soundtrack !

I hope they can manage a good mix between action and puzzle.

Frankly, a year ago when my brother told me that TT was going to make JP and BTTF games I flipped. It was beyond awesome that one of the few companies that don't care about graphics or trends and that could actually deliver a great story to fans monthly was going to make games based on our 2 favorite movies of all time.

I hope it delivers.

I remain unimpressed, especially by the water effects the beginning. Also, T-Rex's roar.

Me too, it's like they want you to think the graphics are good yet they aren't. And it doesn't seem that good of a game. Who knows though, it might be a great one, hah.

In their defense most people say that water is incredibly hard to model. Although most other developers seem to be able to do it without it looking like diarrhea. The overall graphics seem to remind me of Tropico 3; decent models, basic textures.

Oh and for all you know that could be a perfect replica of a T-rex roar.

Looks interesting, but is odd how they messed up the roar since that was fairly iconic to the point that it was used outside of Jurassic Park a few times.

Yeah, but if you can't do it reasonably well, maybe you should redesign the game so that you don't need to do it at all.

Not to be offensive or anything but... this is the problem with gamers nowadays. Why spend so much time discussing a water effect?

Why is it that the first comment about any game is always related to graphics?

So, if this was a trailer for a good indie movie shot with abysmal production values then everyone would think that it sucks? Oh, wait, no, that actually happens in the movie industry.

I rather have a good story and a good, fun game that another Crysis for graphic whores.

That would require two major states:

1: Significant portions of the game in which you are perfectly safe, either discovering dinosaurs in captivity or watching docile specimens go about their buisiness in the wild.

2: Tense moments in which you know you are being hunted. You should see actual hostile carnivores infrequently, though be very aware of their presence.

Well can't really judge anything but the graphics from trailers and screenshots. Not to mention, if it hurts my eyes, it hurts my eyes.

Also, talking smack about Crysis?

The character's look a little cartoony for me :/ and the voice acting is not really good too. I was hoping for a game like Dino crisis 1 or 2 but knowing that TTG is making it, I'm pretty sure its not going to be too violent. oh well looks like i still have this game to look forward:
