Old news, but I was in Waterstones today buying the final Edge Chronicle book and I overheard a couple of mothers talking about buying it for ones daughter, according to one it was a 'Magnificent piece of prose'.

I miss Glasgow.

Not to be combative, but it seems terribly rude to start a thread asking people whether or not they like something when its really about bashing something. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

But yes, as WoF said, its en vogue to hate Twlight just as much as it is to like it. Thus this is not much different than a pro-Twilight thread, I'm afraid.

Twilight was probably the worst book I had ever read. Ever. It felt as if I were ready some poorly written fanfic off fanfiction.net or something. After I finished reading the first book, which mind you I was forced to read, I ripped it apart and burned it. It was just that awful in my opinion.

Twilight does suck tremendous ass though. It's the whole Mary Sue character thing, along with the fact that it's obviously the author's sexual fantasy. Plus, she's Mormon. I fucking hate Mormons.

Wow, so much bashing that this thread is almost a one-sided argument. Well I'm about to change the way this whole thread is going.

I liked the Twilight movie.

Now I know what you're going to say, I admit that there is a lot less action than in Blade or Underworld. However, this film is not an action packed movie. It's a light-hearted romance movie with a light vampirish tint. If you walk into a cinema hoping for a bloodbath then you're going to the wrong movie. If you REALLY like action I recommend watching Terminator Salvation.

I think the actor playing Edward does a fine job of 'acting' like a vampire-like character. Also, how could you not like the baseball scene? Wasn't that just one of the best uses of a Muse song ever? (As well as best portrayal of vampire sports!).

I admit, this film is not for everyone... No film can be aimed at every single audience member possible. Anyway, that's my opinion. This film is not one of my favorites, but as vampire romance movies go... it was adequate.

And yeah, Edward's pretty much just abusive with looks and no personality. The book tries to say him being possesive and whatnot is just him being loving and protective, which can't be good for the hordes of people reading it.

I read the first book and some of the second book, I thought they were kind of boring. The love crap really isn't my thing...

And the film, it is so damn terrible. The effects are beaten by films 10 years older than it, possibly more. The actors also sucked. Everything just failed.

But I must say it's fun to take the piss out of it.
