I might be the only person here who still actively watches Trailer Park Boys. (Used or Mutual friend mentioned something about it here. Once. But it's a brilliant show and probably my favorite thing on television.

Phil Collins looks a lot like my dad. Doesn't help that he's from Nova Scotia.

If you want to talk anime, make another thread so I can ignore it please.
Anime counts as TV shows no-one cares about, so take your concentration and differentiate content with a skim instead of being a twat.

Animation wise, Canada is a shithole.

TPB and Kenny Vs. Spenny are also the only homegrown shows that I like, so...

I have to admit, that is a pretty good programme along with The Grim Adventures of Bill & Mandy, the only cartoon that makes me laugh.

You have hit another good one there, god these were on so long ago, I don't get why they stop them. Another one I like is Dexter's Lab and Cow and Chicken, but that was when I was about 6 / 7 years old.

Beast Wars was Canadian too? Shite.

The tweeny stuff rather sucks, yeah (though Total Drama Island wasn't half bad, IMO).

I don't bother with anything Teletoon airs at this point. They're trying WAY too hard to be Adult Swim and they air all these goddamn kids shows during the time they could put something decent. It's a terrible network trying to emulate a mediocre network.

There was a point where I enjoyed all of the AS shows they aired but now everything is just fucking awful.

That's the truth, for at least the AS part, though CN is basically doing what Nick does in that they're putting all these tweeny shows out with just pure garbage on the side. I've noticed this trend of general degradation in everything mainstream at this point.

Turning young'uns further and further towards Japanese culture, at which point the same groups that pressure for more Tweeny like TV complain that Japan is corrupting their youngsters minds.

"Cartoon" channels don't live out to their name anyway, with the possible exception of Boomerang which actually airs what its supposed to (most of the time). I can't remember when its supposed to happen, but CN is shoving off a good chunk of their cartoon time with a new "Cartoon Network REAL" or some such, which is live action tween shows. Which is pretty much exactly what Toon Disney did until they got so far removed from their name they had to change it (to Disney XD because Disney doesn't understand the internet).
I predict Cartoon Network will eventually become...Network or something, as it seems that the day will be taken up with their "REAL" block and their nights taken up with "Adult Swim".

There's also Boomerang and Nicktoons Network, I guess, but they're often on more expensive cable packages. And Nicktoons pretty much shows the exact same cartoons that are currently on Nickelodeon. So basically all they show is Spongebob.

Foster's Home of Imaginary Friends was pretty great but Cartoon Network seemed to really hate showing it, as they never did until it was canceled (in which they showed the last episodes in a row and then took it off all together). Skunk Fu! is actually pretty good for a recent show, especially since its made with Flash. Other than that, I can't stand most recent cartoons. On the bright side, there seems to be more of a shift back to the old style of humor with some newer toons like The Might B!, Chowder, and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.

Yeah, Cartoon Network also prematurely killed Transformers Animated, a lot of fans think, however I bet it was more to do with the new movie and Hasbro.

However CN has dropped it like a wet fish and aren't even going to do reruns...

I miss the old English cartoon network. These days when I zap past CN, which is buried somewhere on number 275 on my TV, all I see is the good old classic cartoons like Dexter, Johny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Ed, Edd and Eddy. Only problem is they've dubbed every single episode, so now they all speak lame Dutch. With voices that don't suit them and translations from the original episodes that would want to make the average 20 year old kill himself.

Animated cartoons like 10 years ago don't exist anymore, either. It's all CG now and it looks crap. The stories in cartoons these days are crap and don't teach you a damn thing anymore. Some of the stuff I know today I first learned from a cartoon. In fact, I learned my English from watching cartoons.

Good times...

I completely agree, CG cartoons are no where near as good as the old ones, they show the old ones on Cartoon Network at 12:00 at night until 2:00 in the morning, what kid is going to be up at that time.

I was a big fan of 90's nickelodeon and cartoon/t.v. shows in general. Something about modern children's television and cartoons lacks the strange and bizarre creativity that shows like Rocko's modern life had or the hilarity + education that the Animaniacs provided.

Just the other day when the previews came on before the movie "UP," I saw that Cartoon network is now starting to introduce more kid's reality t.v. programs into their lineup, which are sad clones of reality programs for adults...Something about this just screamed wrong to me. I hope when I have children some day to introduce them to more of the old t.v. programming, time to start buying more dvds!

I wholeheartedly disagree. But Seseme Street was pretty damn good for an American kids' show.

More than that, it was wholly pro-social and showed kids a multicultural neighborhood where all of the occupants were of differing social, ethnic and national backgrounds. And pulled it off well.

Much better than 'The Ultimate Pro-Social Show' that is the Teletubbies.

I hated it when my youngest nephew watched the Teletubbies. It was boring as hell. Especially when they played the same damn thing twice. I would certainly show my child Seseme Street if Emily ever conceived.

I remember when that came on. Even my nephew hated it. I'm sure you remember, they even ruined Sooty. Harry (the guy I remember) was best, but his son Matthew (I remember one or two of his episodes, then I grew out of it) was good, too. I don't think that it was the new fellow's fault that it was ruined, more the company who bought it off Matthew's fault.
