Thanks ^^

Well I've done another test with better results It's the high poly version of the scrab, but it didn't take too much time to process.

A Scrab in Sahara desert!

That new version is perfect when it comes to the actaul model. The red could be slightly bolder, and I still can't really see any green.

The only thing you need to do now is texture it a bit better. The basic couloring is done but it could be improved. Nice job!

Wow. That is what a 3D model of a scrab in a real environment should look like.
The head is a tad too big though
.
I stand corrected. This is what a 3D model of a scrab in a real environment should look like. I'll stop now, otherwise this could go on a while.

How I did the Scrab? Well, I think I said how in all this 6 pages.

lol

If you're meaning how I made the scene, easy, I imported the high poly model into 3D Max and I rendered it with Final Gather, Mental Ray and a Daylight System.

And then in Photoshop I fixed the shadows and the color.

Yes, you're right.. there's no green there

And yes, the actual texture is unfinished ^^

I read it a couple of times, and I don't understand it, due to my english

The model has come out nicely but it looks like after you were done with it it fell into two buckets of paint O.o;.

Put some effort in a decent texture instead of slapping some colors on with a brush.

That Scrab is looking good.
A quick question; You say you are using Zbrush? How do you export models from Zbrush as OBJ files? Because I can't seem to work it out.

Yes, that's what I want to do, but as you can think, it's just pain in the ass to do a good texture >_<

In the Tool menu, press "Export" button and then click export.

As opposed to the long ass precise and detailed work it takes to make a model like that? Come on don't let yourself do half work. This is like spending 10 days on some awesome sketch on a notepad and then doing the coloring in paint.

I agree with you, that's absolutely obvious but I'm not good at textures. I'm good in Photoshop, but if I want to do the texture in Photoshop, I must unwrap the model first, and I didn't do it.. Cuz I didn't know how. And now, with the UVW map coordinates in Zbrush, I'm not able to do anything in Photoshop (maybe I can do a bit).. And, well, I'm not a Zbrush expert so it will take me long time to do a decent texture.

Sorry for my english, cause I don't know if I explained it well.

To explain it clearer:

Ok, this is what the texture looks like:

I don't know where is the chest, where are the legs, or the head, so I can't edit it in Photoshop. I must edit it in Zbrush, over the model.

But Zbrush doesn't have the Photoshop tools, except the brush:

So it's difficult to me to do a realistic texture there, with the brush only. It's true that Zbrush has other options, like paste an image over the model and edit it, but I'm not an expert, so I don't know how to do it.

Anyway, I'll give it a try. Thanks!

I see... so that's your problem,

I used to do many recolours for Sims2 with Photoshop, so I also worked with similar textures, when I did this for the first time I marked some places with another colour to find out where they where appearing on the model,
because I didn't knew how it worked since I just did the redolours and not the model itself, like that I could find out easily and fast where the parts of the texture belong.
ok I guess anyone understands me xD I mean, just make some places in the texture blue or green or whatever and look where they appear on the model... hehehe x3 I dunno if it helps ^^;

Yes, that helps. I did it in other models too, but I didn't think that can help in this model.

Thanks.

Well, I tried. But I have another problem x). I've the chest and the legs around all the texture, I mean, one part of the chest is in one corner, one pectoral is in the middle.. And the legs are incredible smaller than the foot.

So.. I think I'll do the texture again, and I'll try to find a better UVW map for the Scrab.
