Lord of the Rings 1. Too long...I almost fell asleep. I can't wait to see the second though, many people said it was the best and had a lot of action.

Hostel 2 spoilers

I saw Hostel 2 yesterday. Didn't like it as much as the first. The whole killing Paxton thing in the first ten minutes of the movie kinda threw me off. Hostel's ending was satisfying because Paxton was able to escape and get some semblance of revenge. To see part 2 pick up right after 1 and have him beheaded just ruined the ending to part 1 for me.

You know...it wasn't as good as the first one. Though...it was interesting to see the bidding war for the american girls. I did like getting the perspective of the people who actually pay money to kill.

Erm... I don' know if this is your sense of humour or just a mistake but the spoiler warning is more or less invisible in Industrial theme.

I saw 1408 the other day, let me just I highly recommend it! I don't usually care for movies based on Stephen King stories actually I usually hate them but this movie was incredible! Best movie I've seen in a while, John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson were in it, so the acting was believable.

The last week I watched the last few episodes of Stargate Atlantis which ends in a very anoying cliff hanger , and now I'm re-watching episodes from Father of the Pride. Nothin fancy for me, though I am going to go see Oceans Thirteen soon...

I just saw Transformers. It was pretty good, with slick visuals, a coherent plot, and funny actors. Shia LeBouf was really a good lead actor. Also, the action never let up, and the sop was totally negligible.

And Megatron kicks Autobot Arse.

Recently saw POTC 3. *Spoilers, of course*

Pretty good film, a lot of pratting about on ships with little happening, and double-crossing aplenty, but it was still fairly good. Not much action barring the final scene, but it was still a good film. Some very weird and abstract parts, but I felt they worked. The ending IMO (or at least post credits) seemed pretty definitive, as though there won't be anymore. Which IMO is a pityk as I liked the series. Don't know where I'd rank it in the series, but it was good. I think POTC2 was definitely their Empire Strikes Back, though.

Saw it last night. I didn't think there was nearly enough action.
I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted at another forum:

:
I saw it last night. I was actually quite disappointed. Far too much human storyline, and far too little Transformers stuff. The Decepticons never even held a conversation, and the Autobots didn't have as much to say as I thought they would either. Also, it was stocked to the brim with cheese. Although at some points you can tell that the cheese is intentional ala Snakes on a Plane (and these parts were quite cool), sometimes it isn't, and it's cringe inducing. Also plenty of plotholes. Someone here mentioned good acting. I wouldn't really say that.
Maybe I went into it with too higher expectations...
The action was pretty good, but camera angles could have been further away sometimes (it was quite hard to see who was doing what, since the detail on the Transformers was so good, not blocky like they used to be).

Oh and the film caught on fire as the movie was playing, around twenty minutes in, so we missed a few minutes of it due to that. It was pretty sweet/amazing seeing it melt away though. Definitely a highlight.

Eh, depends on how you view transformers, I guess.

I thought the jokes were funny, and the action was enough.

My dad and I watched It's Alive!, a 1973 horror movie that scared him as a seven year-old. It was good for it's time, but I like psychological horror movies like Jacob's Ladder or video games like Silent Hill. I don't scare from gore or monster babies.

It's Alive isn't really meant to be scary. It's more in the vein of Evil Dead and Cemetary Man as in it's just campy and funny.

I would like to congratulate OANST for making me laugh. Well done.

On topic, I bought Hot Fuzz on DVD. Very, very funny. But in my opinion, not as good as Police Squad. I like 80's comedies more.

I raised my hand to say that I have not seen Forest Gump. I didn't expect that to be so confusing.

I watched National Treasure last night, and it was ok, but not as good as I'd hoped. It had its moments, but it was just too unrealistic for a semi-serious movie to keep my interest.

The third season of Doctor Who came to its climax on Saturday, and the entire thing has just been extraordinary. A few slightly dodgy (but still massively entertaining) episodes aside, it’s been a fairly flawless ride with some of the best work the show has ever, ever done. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the finale at first; it’s was bonkers, epic stuff but after digesting it for a while I’ve come to realise that it was just massively brilliant. Totally wonderful, by far the best thing on TV. Or film, for that matter.

I mean, come on: that’s how you do science fiction drama.

Other less important things:

Faust (1926) – I’ve been wanting to buy this on DVD for well over 6 months and finally got round to it, and it didn’t disappoint. I love German cinema, both the New Wave and the Weimar classic stuff, and getting into these way old silent films has been great. Almost as good as Pandora’s Box, and I seriously adore Pandora’s Box.

Rushmore – I’m slowly making my way through Wes Anderson’s four films, working my way backwards (by accident). I liked this the least out of The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic, it just didn’t quite click. The direction was a bit off, and the script felt quite self-conscious in comparison to the other two. I dunno, I did enjoy it, but in just about every sense I thought it lesser than the others.

Sid & Nancy – A film about the punk scene, focusing in on the relationship between Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and Nancy Spungen. I really liked it a lot, really a lot. I love the whole punk ethos – as an interest, not in actuality – and this would make a good, straighter foil in a double-bill with Jubilee.
