Because it's the Oddworld Forums and all fan corners use a shorthand to discuss their respective creators. We don't need to say "Lorne Lanning" because we automatically know who "Lorne" refers to.

In this instance it just happens that "Lorne" is easier to say than "Lanning". It's not a particularly common first name, either, which is probably why people use it.

It doesn't really matter though.
