[OOC: well, not someone from the village...]
As the sun began to set over the gristly remains of the mudokon settlers, a hand reached up and disturbed their dangling remains. The hand wore a leather glove, heavily padded on the palm. The arm reached high: higher than the mudokons who up until recently had been working here; higher even than their murderer. As it touched the dangling entrails, it withdrew in disgust, and returned to the ground. Its owner turned to the other glukkon, who was slightly smaller.
"Looks like his handiwork."
The smaller glukkon nodded, his eyes wide. "Unmistakeable." He walked quickly over to a rock, and touched it with a finger. Examining his finger, he frowned, then sat down on it, pulling his tough gloves from his hands. Unconsciously, his fingernails moved up to his mouth, where he began to chew them, his wide eyes staring into the distance.
The larger glukkon frowned, then approached his companion. "Hey, Smick!" When there was no reply, he nudged the other glukkon, who started.
"Hmm?"
The other sighed, and sat beside him. "Don't do that to me! What if it happened when we were facing him, what would happen then?" He slapped Smick's hand away from his mouth. "And don't chew your nails like that, it makes you look like an idiot!"
Smick lowered his eyes. "Sorry. What did you want?"
"What do you think we should do now?"
"Do?"
The larger glukkon sighed. "Yes, do. Where do you think he'll be heading?"
"I think we should go back and get the others. Snip'll be able to track him."
"Yeah, but that'd take time, one of us at least should stay with him, making sure we don't lose him."
Smick nodded, thinking. Unconsciously, his fingers returned to his mouth, but his friend ignored them. "He hasn't ventured near any villages before now, I think this might be a new trend. There's a small town called Pyke near here, he'll probably head for that."
His companion, Ludd, nodded. "Why don't you go back and bring the flyer here? I'll follow Malice and radio you with my location, so you can find me."
Smick smiled. "You're a good friend, Ludd. I won't be long!" Rising suddenly, he made off back the way they'd come. Shaking his head, Ludd also rose, and, checking a map, headed off in a different direction.
