I've done a lot of work on this: and so here it is.
Mudokons
Mudokons are obviously humanoid in shape, but also possess a reptilian atributy or two. We all know Mudokons evolved from birds - to our world, they've de-evolved into reptiles, more specifically, dinosaurs. However, they do still retain some of their bird-features, such as light/hollow bones and feathers.
Glukkons
Primarily, a cross between octopi and ostriches - just look at those long 'legs'. Glukkon species is also based on a certain human feature - businessmen. Or rather, barbaric bosses.
Sligs
An obvious slug rip-off, but also owning many features of squids, such as the tentacles, and fairly obviously, the name 'Slig'.
Scrabs
Judging directly from the name, the Scrab is a hybrid of (obviously) a crab, and, perhaps to your surprise, a swans. The neck, mainly, I mean, but certain other details are common between the two. Now, the Scrab's distinctive personality is based on that of a rhino, but also can be found in the Earth stalion, mountain goat, and many other creatures.
Paramites
Mites in appearance, but their web-weaving ability is obviously spider-originated. They hunt in packs but shy away when in solitude, just like the hyenas on which they are based.
Fleeches
Obviously, this little beasty's title gives it a 'leech' flavour, but its nature is more like that of a shark - one of those actually-viscious sharks, though. And where does the green-colouring and long tongue come from? I'll tell you - it's a frog.
Vykkers
This was a fairly tricky one, but I sussed it in the end. Remember how Munch is described as being 'abducted' by the Vykkers? Well, that's because the Vykkers are based heavily on stories of alien abductions, where people claim they have been kidnapped by beings in a spaceship and been experimented on. There are many variations, but the aliens are most commonly described as being small but tall, with a relatively large head and two enourmous eyes. This alien is called a 'gray' (not 'grey' in British English, though).
I haven't been able to determine where these nutty doctors gain the remaining of their atributies from, although my best guess would be from a praying mantis (hey, I really dunno).
Slogs
Dogs. Too easy, but there's a funny thing going on with that frill, which I just can't place.
Interns
When I first saw an Intern, I immediately thought 'whale', and I still stick by it. However, since the community has been able to see these rockers more clearly, I have changed my mind about their heads resembling pitcher plants. The likenes is there, but I'm just not so keen about the idea any more.
Gabbits
Wow! Where do I begin? Well, Munch is heavily based around a catfish and a rabbit. His one-leggedness comes from a sea-horse, and his sonar abilities and swimming style comes from a dolphin. His mouth is a cross between that of a crocodile and that of a coelocanth (the thought-extincted fish). Plus, Gabits are fished from the ocean in a way similar to tuna, and Gabbiar tins also are shaped exactly like the tins tuna comes in. What a freaky hybrid.
Elum
A cross between a stinking mule and a stereotypcial bear i.e. honey-liking, bee-hating - who does that remain you of? Whinney the Pooh? You betchya.
Fuzzles
Oh, please. A lab rat/sea urchin cross over. I got that in a few minutes (okay, I'm boasting, but it's true).
Raisin
A giant jellyfish - no, come back, I'm serious. He also seems very reminisant (sp?) of a woolly-mammoth. He is, after all, the only of his kind, and Earth isn't exactly swarming with mammoth-poo and mammoth carcasses, is it now?
Meetles
Studying the Mudokon Nation, I found this: Meeps are like sheep, Elums are like horses, Meetle grubs are like pigs, and Meetles are like cattle. No really, just take a glimse at the Tree Huggers pic, and you'll get my drift.
The Meetle Grub I actually believe is a sort of pig/catapiller cross-breed, with a tiny bit rabbit coming from that ear. A adult Meetle is definitely cattle-based, but the overall shape seems more ladybird (or ladybug for you Americans). Sydney mentions on Oddworldian a latin name he identifies it as being, but I'm just one boy in a world of insect encyclopaedias (i.e. I haven't looked it up).
Mugs are slightly different. The picture from Abe Babe's promotional leaflet seems just a Meetle-turned-evil, but those sticky-up wings remind me of something. It just won't click. But the production artwork is definitely based on a scorpion. Look at those 'pincers', look at that tail. Wey-hey, look at that cool leather jacket!
Meeps
Sheep. And something else, I haven't begun to think. Maybe a...oh, idunno.
Rats
Rats. The legs are quite spider-like, though. Jeez, this is getting harder.
Slurgs
Oops, nearly forgot these. Slugs.
Meeches
These are very T-rex in appearance - the up-right body and powerful legs, but tiny, tiny arms. They are described by Lorne himself as hunting like hyenas, much like the Paramites. The shape of its hunched back reminds me of that funny squid-like underwater creature, but I forget its name. It's a cephalapod, I think, and it's nearly extinct, or something? Oh, I'll look it up.
Chroniclers
A squid/sea-horse mix. Ever notice they had only one leg before now?
Skeeters
Now, please explain to me why OWI chose the name 'Skeeter' for a mosquito-based creature. Did Lorne not see the film 'Skeeter' in which giant mosquito monster do something I don't know of because I've never seen the film, and he just came up with the name, leading to one big freaky coincidence? Or has he seen the film and decided he wasn't feeling particularly inventive? Or is it the production department that ultimately designs the creatures' names? It doesn't make any different, anyway, but I just think Oddworld names are beginning to lose their buzz. Anyway, Skeeter's are based on mosquitoes.
Sea Rexes
An underwater T-rex crossed with a big eel and one of those whales/sharks that just sift through the ocean eating everything (mostly and preferably plankton).
Stangs
Shark/jellyfish. OWI really like sharks, don't they? Fleeches, Sea Rexes and Stangs. Tsk!
Kintos
A sort of toad mixed with a mountain goat. I'm sure there's a creature that despises things above its head on Earth, but I haven't in the last two years been able to think of it.
Scoots
Just bottom-of-the-food-chain fish/squids.
Queens
Queen Sam appears to be based on a giant Slug mixed with a normal Mudokon.
Lady Margaret, on the other hand, looks like a massive cross between a cetipede and a prawn. Don't tell her tht, though, or she'll have my guts for garter, guttering and grocery-goods.
Well, I'm positively worn out now. My mind's blank and my fingers are numb. Please, please try to remember them, because in my busy lifestyle, I doubt I'll have time to grieve for them.
Generously,
Max Muggledarner
