Recently I did manage to get another one of those old subnotebooks running Windows 98SE and since this one has better specs than the Libretto does, I thought I'd try putting Oddworld on it.
The computer itself is a Palmax PD-1000 and meets the minimum specs for AE at least:
Cyrix MediaGX 166MHz Processor
64MB EDO RAM
Windows 98 Second Edition
16-Bit Sound Blaster Compatible Sound Card
First problem is, for whatever reason, the sound no longer plays. Now, I'm not sure if this is because I'm not running it from the CD Drive (I selected the full install off the CD) or is just an error. It was working the first time I ran it, but I think I had it in the CD Drive docking station. This problem is on AO and AE.
Second problem is, AO runs a little slow, not that you'd notice if you hadn't ever played Oddworld. It's not laggy slow, it's just slow-motion. I was wondering if there is an AO version of -ddfastest, and if there is, how do I activate it?
Here's it running AE fine with -ddfastest if you're curious...
