Mad Glukkon stuck - First level of Executive Office FDP11C05

Hi everyone

I have played AE multiple times on the PC, but only recently trying to run it under winxp. I have to use the winxp patch to play the game but thats been fine. When I played in win98 I never had a problem completing the game. The problem now is whenever I get up to Executive Office (where you have to creep past the two sligs in the dark, then go to the right and you get to a Glukkon posses him etc)

But each time I have got to this point, as soon as I get into the bathroom beside the Glukkon, where-as before he would be calling "Help" and running around. Now he doesn't say anything and seems stuck. When I posses him he just stays in 1 spot. If I try to move him he won't move left and right, he will jump but falls straight into a pixilated mess just under the floor He can't speak so I can't get him to activate the voice lock.

Now I have tried to reload from a different save point and work my way through but it makes no difference. Also I can't make the cheat work to open the levels, nor to get a new path.

So now I am well and truly stuck. I have tried to find a save game file that is past this point, but all I have been able to find is the ones where the game has already been completed. So I was wondering if anyone had a save game file from just after this point say FDP11C07 or FDP14C02 or FDPO2C08 even further would be fine, I just would love to be able to finish this game.

Thank-you so much in advance.

Pip

That sounds really strange. I can say that this does not sound like a common problem.

Actually, this is a surprisingly common problem. One of the most common problems, actually. Unfortunately, as I’ve never run into it myself, I don’t recall how to fix it, if there is a fix. Search the Oddworld Help forum for ‘Aslik’ and you will find posts by other people suffering from exactly the same error. Maybe you’ll also find the solution you need.

I had a look and found my exact problem. http://www.oddworldforums.net/showth...ighlight=aslik and here http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=15901

It seems you have to cheat you way through it. But the level skips don't work for me for some reason, and the ddcheat is no help as this level seems to be a stand alone level so you can't get back to the station. I have tried using older savegames but the problem is the same. I think it's the winxp patch that has caused the problem. I think I will go and download another .exe for AE and see if that helps.

I don't know if this will help but I cheated to that level killed him for you and saved it, theres no escapees and you will have to redo Bonewerks and Slig barracks unfortuantly.

EDIT: I have added a save game that will allow you to pass to Soulstorm Brewery, without having to redo the previous levels.

FDP11C08: Will have to redo other levels | Possible good ending.

FDP102C09: Can carry on to Soulstorm Brewery | Possible bad ending

No problem . Glad to know it works, I had doubts.

Which savegame did you choose in the end?

I can tell you that the Steam version does work completely. I had the same problem with my discs, so I got the Steam version and the first thing I did was cheat my way over Aslik's bathroom and see if he froze. He didn't and I was happy.

The problem is not about using thumbnails. It's about attaching pictures that are relevant to the post. His attachments were relevant, yours never are.

I just tried the top one to start with. I doubted it would work so thought I may as well try them one at a time. I nearly had a heart attack with joy when it worked

I'm going to save each of the saves in a "Never Delete" file, so that I can always finish the game

Thanks so much again.

Pip

^ Your welcome.

I might work on a save game with all rescues up to that point, so people aren't left out if they have a faulty version.

I used the save game editor to put my saves back to what they were at that point (all saved) but other people may not be able to do that.

It would be great to have a save game with all saves up to that point though

Well I finished the game (thanks) but it says that I killed all the mudokons and it's going to make me bullet proof. Shame that the game then freezes on that screen shot, never to move on I would love to have played the game bullet proof

That’s nice. Not anything to do with the topic at hand, but congratulations nonetheless on your skills.

Havoc was saying the Steam version doesn’t suffer from the glitch in question. In what way was your comment relevant to the glitch in question?
