Which cities/countries did you visit?

I have been in Barcelona (march of 2012) and Dubrovnik (Croatia, march of 2013): they were both school trips When I was 5 years old, in 1999, I have been in Lourdes. I have been in Swiss too but I didn't visit any important city.

And what about you? Let's post some pics too, come on!

I've been to the UK. People really do drink tea all day and walk around wearing bowler hats.

Let's see,

I've been all over Ireland, Dublin, Galway, Co. Clare, The Burren and plenty more places I cannae remember. I've been to Cardiff and North Wales. Alness and the surrounding area in Scotland. Further afield, I've been to Normandy and around Dieppe in France, Alicante in Spain and Berlin, Germany. I've also been to the Isle of Wight but that's basically England.

I'm planning to go either to Australia or Japan sooooon!

I've been to loads of places in the UK, mostly in England. In fact I've been pretty much all down the country. The furtherest out I've been from Britain is far south of France. Never flown once.

During my life, I want to at least go to China, Japan, America and Australia.

I've been to Menorca, Tenerife twice, Orlando Florida twice, in Australia I experienced the delights of Cairns, Townsville and Tully; George Town is the only one in Grand Cayman and I got there eventually, I went to Greece but I don't remember where, various places in France, also Portugal, Austria (via Germany), Sharm el Sheik in Egypt, and Toronto in Canada. Niagara Falls stands out for me there, not for the falls itself because the day's dreary weather leached out all sense of scale for me, but rather for the extraordinary imbalance between the immigration security on the Canadian side and the American side.

I've been to pretty much every country in South America, but I was a baby at the time so I can't remember it. I've been to Arizona (Phoenix), California (Pretty much everything important there), Oregon (Don't remember where exactly), Florida (Orlando, The Keys, Tampa and a little bit in Miami), Hawaii and technically for about five hours New York City. I've seen most of Denmark, and bits of Northern Germany. I've also been in Thailand for about a day, but I spent most of it in a hotel because I was exhausted. Now I've been in Melbourne and Sydney as well.

I also once (in one day) ate breakfast in France, lunch in Belgium and dinner in Germany, which was pretty cool.

UKwise I've been to London, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Preston, Cardiff and Prestatyn. I've also been to Cannock, Wolverhampton, Stone and Stoke-on-Trent near where I live; Stafford.

Also that shitty little village where Wil lives.

Born and bred in Adelaide, South Australia. I've been along the east coast to Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne. I left Australia once, to go on a holiday to England, where I stayed in London and then Nailsea (near Bristol). I visited Bath while I was there, which was amazing.

If you count sitting in airports for 8 hours I've also been to Hong Kong.

At the end of the year I'm going on a choir tour through Shanghai, Reykjavik, Prague, a heap of places north to south in Germany, a few places in Italy including Rome and Venice, and maybe a few others that I'm forgetting. That should be something. Especially so given that I'm going to be one of ~100 schoolkids in the choir.

Okay, in truth I'm well travelled. Here's a long post.

Went all over London and Essex several times as a child (including a couple of fortnight-long boat trips along the Blackwater and Thames Estuary). Went to Cornwall for a week on a school trip. Used to have family up in Yorkshire and in north Wales... (Wales is beautiful. Mountains next to stone beaches, crystal clear water. Peak District is pretty.) Got family living in Devon now. (Dartmoor National Park - Also nice)

Been to Scotland a few times, Loch Lomand is incredible in Winter. Isle of Skye is the furthest north I've been (walked half way up a mountain, was fun). Was kindly taken to the Isle of Wight back in '10 by "Middlesboogie" (old FC moderator and OWF vet) and her family, did touristy things there...

Was taken to "the mainland" as a child back in '96 on a family holiday, spent a couple of weeks on a road trip through France, Holland and Belgium visiting various touristy attraction things (like the Antonium, the Eiffel tower... Got a puerile laugh out of the Mannequin Pis.)

During my relationship with 'Alector' between '07 and '09 (another old OWF vet) I ended up spending a year in total in Germany over several visits. Lived with her in different parts of Leipzig for several months (the city is a little run down in parts but has a lot of character and history, parks surround and run through it).

Her mum and one of her friends ('The Blue Scrab', another obscure member of ye olde OWF) lived in west Germany near the Palatinate forest, the river Rhine and the French border, so we went between the two places a lot. Explored that area a bit (including staying in the medieval town of Worms - pronounced "Voorms" - for a couple of weeks, with BlueScrab. Ew, her old screen name sounds like an STD when written that way). The East/West divide is still incredibly evident and deeply rooted in German culture...

We ended up staying for a few months with another of her friends who lived in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (a few hundred km to the south of Berlin near the Polish border). With him, we went on several road trips throughout the country... Up to the island of Rügen (white chalk cliffs overlooking the Baltic sea, forests, beaches - Hitler went and built big ugly blocks of flats on it as a "Holiday resort" for workers which still stand today). Lake Constance (town split in two by Swiss border, beautiful large lake, short drive away from the Swiss alps).

Said friend also worked in Berlin - I wish I saw more of the city considering how often we passed through it.

By some weird circumstances I later ended up cycling around parts of Mecklenburg alone for 2 months. Flat, small (a few km wide) lakes. Quaint country towns... It's a good way of really getting to know a place.

I'd love to go to the Scandinavian countries one day (Norway, Sweden)...

When I go to a place I enjoy being down to earth and seeing its natural beauty, perhaps in the company of some of the locals. I don't get the touristy crap. Or flying half way around the world just to stay in a hotel or a resort without really seeing any of the country you're in, then flying back home. What's the point of doing that?

:
Never flown once.
It's overrated.

I'm not actually that fussed about travelling, but I'd really like to see Polynesia. Walk among the remains of pocket apocalypses, and see thriving communities running on the bare minimum of space.

Netherlands (obviously), Belgium, Germany, France.

Spain (Tenerife) has been my/our steady vacation destination for a few years now. Very cool island with a lot of things to do. Ideal mix of relaxing beach vacation and adventure/horse riding, etc.

Been to the UK a couple of times to visit friends and sight seeing:

London twice. Once by boat (long ass trainride from harbor) and once by plane (little less long ass trainride from Luton Airport). Been to Reading and Bristol as well.

On my trip to the United States I visited two cities. We passed through Chicago airport on our way to Las Vegas and on the way back we stayed in this typical American motel. Very fun experience. Oh and I visited the Grand Canyon while I was there.

Outside of the UK I've been to Turkey and Greece. They were alright, but I was too young to properly experience both of them.

Inside the UK I've been to a few cities.

I'm not a well travelled guy, which only fuels my desire to travel lots!

I want to go to Canada, the states, New Zealand and Italy. I'm thinking of going interrailing with my boyfriend at some point too.

If this thread was made in mid to late December then I could tell you about how; I went to Switzerland to visit CERN and had a wonderful time, discovered the higgs boson by accident, made lots of money, and was forever immortalised in the world of science.

But sadly it's October :I

I saw Lynton and Lynmouth when I was in England, too.

I only actually went to Lynmouth, but I saw the cable car that went up to Lynton. I played miniature golf with my dad and brother there, but other than that it was pretty boring.

Genoa is a beautiful city full of history due to its ancient past as a roman city before and then as a maritime republic. It's a big industrial city today so the sea is not clean there, but you could go to Cinque Terre that you could have heard on TV in 2011 for the terrible flood that damaged those places killing many people: it's about 88 kms from Genoa but it's such an Earthly Paradise

I'd definitely like to go, I know Genoa used to be a city state and like, the architecture of all the buildings is pretty amazing. Another couple of Italian cities I'd like to see are Venice (before it sinks, ahh), Milan, Rome and Verona. Also the Vatican, I'd love to see the Sistine chapel.

I saw Lynton and Lynmouth when I was in England, too.

I only actually went to Lynmouth, but I saw the cable car that went up to Lynton. I played miniature golf with my dad and brother there, but other than that it was pretty boring.
i think i've been to both of those. you're right, it is fucking boring. the cable car is the attraction, that's it. amazing. what a feat of technology. next it'll be fire and wheels and horseless carriages.

I have been in bulgaria (didnt visit sofia though), Timisoara in Romania, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Budapest, Salzburg, Munich, Milan, Verona, Paris, London, Bristol, oxford, the most underwhelming of which i must say is Munich. I didnt really like it, dont know why.

I would really like to treat myself with a big roadtrip across America and Southeast Asia any time soon.

Paris was where I was born, but I don't have any French blood. I've also been to Vancouver, Cairo, and some seaside town in Mexico. I love traveling, but I've mostly stayed in the US the past few years.

I've been going to Birmingham these past couple of weeks for work.

The city is actually pretty nice, well the area I visited was. I love the tall, modern buildings. We don't have anything like that in Nottingham.

I have noticed there seems to be more buses than any city i've been to. If you miss the bus in Birmingham, your doing something very wrong.
