Alright, rabbit, frog hybrid. Still not a winning combination.
Sorry, I take things sometimes for what I hear.

Sad

Alright, as for mudokons. Note: Take this as a saying but not an explanation
They live in hard mud. The mosiac Lines, Paramonia, Scrabania.
They bury their dead in hard mud. Necrum.
Whenever Abe get's pulverized, such as jumping in a meat
saw rocks appear to ricochet right off the screen as though
he was made of them.

Hard mud drying for millions of years makes the rock of today.
Mudokon live in hard mud. They are the amazing mud men

(sigh) Oh, what am I kidding myself. There no understanding to
those lines.

Um...this seems more name based alot than behavourial based. In what way are Paramites parasitic? They're predators. And I don't think a Scrab would be a crab, crab's are more scavengers. Dunno WHAT they would be, though. Need more time to think, and I don't have the time right now.

A paramite would be a giant tarantula-They're both web-spinnning arachnids. And the Glukkon/octopus thing is actually pretty much correct-Glukkons are of the Octigi family, and in the Octigi family there are octigi themselves, which are basically intellignet octopuses.

Meeches --- Peaches!!

As for Mudokons, I would guess the next gen of turtles or something. I was always thinking what their faces reminded me of, and when I read that wiki I thought "Bingo!"

By the way, what's with the "sheeps" thing?

Drunk

(sarcastically)
Yeah, yeah, thanks a lot everyone.
I haven't went so far as to include all the new species from the
latest games yet. Fortunately I slow on buying the late episodes.

If you don't believe it. Believe it. I'm still stuck with a PS1 and a GBA.
I'm not going to say it's bad or anything. No chance of college with that stuff influencing my life. But when that PS3 hits the shelves the end this spring here in Georgia the new devil going to be proud of himself.

I upgraded my animal of oddworld post ( barely) since I racked my brain for conclusions and took a few looks at those creatures pictures. By my personal opinion I think scrabs have some short alikeness to crabs. Just posting the opinion.

I'll be back!

OT: Linked to what you just said, you do know that they flicked from PS1 to Xbox? That really annoyed me, particularly as generally game series stay on the same home console. I've had a PS2 fror a while now. Plus I also think that maybe Munch's Oddysee wouldn't be as good as the first two anyway, as it changed to 3D. I think part of the formula that made the first two fantastic was its unique gameplay style and 2D stuff etc. In 3D, the original awesome gameplay style is stripped away. Plus they messed up the Scrabs. Large carnivores in huge herds? Doesn't suit them at all. Just...ugh.

On topic again, I do think that Scarbs may be like carniverous horses, at least just a small bit. Their running does sound like a horse (which ius probably the sound they used for the game, but anyway).

But again, if you get a PS3, don't expect any newer Oddworld games on it.

Munch's Master, a Paramite is a VERTABRATE, remember? It's got bone, muscle and four limbs. I think they contradict spinning web.

As a final, though, I think most of Oddworld's creatures can't really be converted to 'real' ones here, they're too different really. Obviously there's some, such as Slogs and Fleeches.

Oddworld creature are so different from earth ones. Define them by behaviour and ecological niche. Okay:

Paramites: wolves or lions
Scrabs: bears/tigers/wildebeast
Gabbits: dolphin/frogs
And just about all the sapient species would be human.
Fleeches: shankes or leeches. or chameleons, remember the tongue.
Slogs: not even going to bother with this one
slurgs: I swear the slugs at my house squeal when trodden on. Accidentaly of course, but only when I'm bearfoot. Ew!

Question

:
Paramites: wolves or lions
Scrabs: bears/tigers/wildebeast
What?!?

Paramites don't look anything like wolves or lions and scrabs don't look like bear/tigers/wildebeast.

Are you a scientist Bullet Magnet?
That was a very good list
However, I would have to say that paramites are like spiders as they do build traps and lie in wait...and aren't lions territorial?
Scrabs-maybe lions,kangaroos as can jump

Yeah, that beats me. I hate Xbox. Mostly because I'm not really fond
of it. Well, at least I'm just scratching my head on the surface of
the Oddworld water. Now to carry on I have to change plans of buying the
PS3 for the Xbox series. I don't think so. Guess the world of fiction gonna move with it's tail left in my face. Pathetic.

Not yet, but I seem to be well on the way. Secondary school ends for me next week, and I appear to go on a bit when the subject swings my way.

Octigi: cats, as they can both parasitise and eventually control their host.
Slegs: coyotes or wolves.
Stunks: skunks (obviously)
Fuzzles: wolverines in the wild or when angered, beagles in Vykkers Labs
Bolamites: well, spiders. I'm surprised OWI didn't exploit the name for a different upgraded version: ebolamites
Chippunks: Stand-up comics, rappers, politicians.

Don't be mean, he didn't spoil it. He helped us by giving us a visual and text based list of the species and animals in Oddworld.

It helped me see which animals are which rather than having to type in every single species into google images.

What would the Zappflies be on Earth?

Zappflies' ability to discharge electricity obviously takes its cue from creatures on Earth that can do the same, most popularly the electric eel. The ability is put into a fly body to fit with the kind of wildlife found in OSW.

Hee hee, love these. The Bolamite in the opening sequence rattles its abdomen like a rattlesnake does its tail.

OWI's inspiration behind the behaviour of Paramites are Hyenas.

Zapflies remind me of fireflies, but "upgraded" to a lethal variety. Have any of you seen them fly? They've revealed no wings...

You know, I've been meaning to post this in this thread for the longest time
now. Why haven't OWI gone to the limits to create predator birds as well that
can chase our heros around a little. The only birds I've seen so far
were those in the FMVs and the clakkers. Oh, and the spiritual birds
the mudokons use.

I'm guessing it's to hard to take a hawk, an eagle, a vulture, uhh what are
those things called, condors. Just rearrange the name like they
did with every other oddworld creature. If not design a new one.
Alter the image of the bird. I don't know, make it one that stands on two
long legs like an ostritch and can't fly.

I'll get back.

Who says you have to make thm sweet and cuddly like fleechies.
Turn the nob up a little and make them as territorial as scrabs. Giant
two-legged birds that patrol around their territory killing every likely
warm-blooded thing that moves. Except females of couse.

I'll get back.
