At the moment, I'm thinking I'd run it like this:
Take a tally of anyone who is willing to join.
Ask them to register on Lichess if they haven't already.
Set up who plays who for the first fortnight, with two games each: one as black, one as white. Classic time controls, ie. 15 minutes with 15 second intervals being added after each turn.
These games must be played within a specific two-week deadline. I think two weeks should be sufficient to play two games of chess.
Once played, I would then ask that the replay (which Lichess automatically saves) be shared with me via PM or posted here within that two-week period.
A drawn game will be treated as 1 point for each player. A win will be treated as 2 points for the winner. A loss is obviously worth no points.
After each player has faced each other contender, the player with the most points will win the tournament.
If anyone does not play their games in those two weeks, then I will have to simply forfeit the points in that game for both players, unless they can provide good reason for not playing during those two weeks. Both players will not be eliminated, they will simply moved along to the next match-up.
I might have to change the tournament format depending on how many people decide they want to join in, say, to knock-out format or something. Two weeks is also quite a long time to play two chess games, but I want to be sure to give people adequate time to play their games, since people have hectic schedules that aren't always readily compatible.
I'm open to suggestions as to how it would be best put together.
