Oddworld SW HD, Sekto Dam bug?

Hello, I have searched google but haven't found anyone with this bug, so I hope there is someone here who knows how to fix or bypass it.

I am playing Oddworld SW HD on the PS3, I downloaded the game as part of the playstation plus subscription.

At the speed run with the 3.30 minute time limit at Sekto's Dam my timer seems messed up. The timer goes about 3 x as fast as a normal timer would. I.e. after around 70 seconds the timer has run out.

This first happened to me on my hard playthrough, loading autosaves and my quicksave didnt solve the problem. I then started a playthrough on easy as I missed some barrels and didnt get the mo moolah trophy on hard. Same thing happened again, the timer bugged.

I found this video on youtube of a guy who does it in 53 seconds (on easy) but the fence jumping part makes me want to throw both my ps and tv out of the window...

I hope someone knows a fix for this.

Funnily enough, I'm trying to follow up on a comment left on Oddworld.com about this problem, or something similar to it. The problem they report is the timer counting down twice as quickly as it should, but only when playing in 3D.

But you wouldn't believe how bloody difficult it is to get a functioning copy of your own game, a release-build-compatibile save file anywhere near that section of the game, and a PlayStation 3 hooked up to a 3DTV-enabled screen to all come together.

The problem in 3D is that the screen is rendered twice, once for each eye. If the timer is a function of the screen renderer, then that's going to be expected (even though we didn't expect it, because why would we expect a timer to be a function of the screen renderer? And it's quite surprising Testology didn't pick up on a bug that makes the game incompletable).

The makeshift solution would be to turn off 3D for that section only, but if it's affecting you outside of 3D mode then I'm not sure what the problem could be or how we could fix it. In the meantime, the 3D version of the problem has gone on the buglist for the next update to Stranger HD for PS3.

Interesting.

I have this problem when I play in normal mode. However I have a
3DTV (Samsung UE46ES8000) and could try to play this section in 3D to see if the timer works how it's supposed to.

I only played the tutorial in 3D as I don't really enjoy this game in 3D.

If you could give it a try, that would be helpful to know. If there's any chance you could also try a non-3DTV, that would be great too.

I will try this tonight and will post the result here. I only have a 3DTV, but maybe I can also connect the PS to my PC monitor or to a projector and try it that way.

Thanks for the help so far.

I found the solution.

Apparently I always played the game running in 3D mode, but I had this option disabled on my TV. I.e. the game ran in 3d, my tv rendered it back to 2d.

As soon as I disabled the 3D option in the video options menu the timer runs normally, so I had the same problem as the one you mentioned earlier

Haha, that's good to know. It means we can limit the problem to the 3D rendering.

Although if the game was running in 3D and the TV was converting it back to 2D, you must have been playing at just 30 FPS.
