RPG / Fan Corner Reshuffling

Due to some very recent events, I bring news of some staff reshuffling from over the hills and yonder.

T-nex has decided to resign from her position as Oddworld RPG Moderator due to personal reasons. Before I continue with the usual promotions and what not, I think it's reasonable that I say something of her time as a Moderator. T-nex took on the role of Temporary RPG Moderator on the 2nd of April last year, until she was made the sole and proper Moderator on the 16th of July. Her time as a Moderator, and as a Member, contributed to the Oddworld RPG immensely.

Over the course of her role as a Moderator some have questioned why I made her a Moderator in the first instance. She was never one to conform or accept everything I, or others in authority said. As much as I prefer people to see eye to eye with me, I have so much respect for those who stand up for what they believe in a respectful manner. T-nex was a Moderator who did her job, one which I honestly believe is extremely tough. She not only ran the entire RPG, but she resurrected the original RPG which had been left to wither out for months. She's earnt my respect, not demanded it.

As such, Splat has been promoted in her place, as he has shown great promise and enthusiasm towards the furthering of Oddworldian art and literature. It is his job now to take on where T-nex left, and to continue her great work. At the same time, I have decided to promote Splat to the position of Fan Corner Moderator, as he shows a keen interest in that area as well, and I believe it needs a little more supervision.

I'm really happy for you, and this is probably the best replacement in my opinion.

But eh, Alcar. Not that I don't want Splat to have the Fan Corner, but that would be 3 mods for one board. And it doesn't need THAT much moderation to be quite honest.

Well, Al has hardly been online... That's not the point. In my opinion Splat would be a good Fancorner mod, plus I do think it needs a bit more moderation :-)

There's a lot of work to do in RPG, and I may have to talk to T-nex about it for a while, but I'll get round to making my presence known eventually (i hope

). I have a few plans to bring into action once I get some things sorted.

No- despite the clearly visible gender symbol next to the name and prompts by other forumers to the sex of we members, we don't get angry over simple he/she mistakes. I once called somebody's mother their "father", so I know what I'm talking about. She is a member of the forum and was present in the thread at the time. Man, oh man...

I must say it's a good thing those gender sybols were put in when they were: saved me from my second near-mistake of gender. Won't say who it was, the first one was in one of my first posts ever and the second I was saved from.

Anyway, i must return to my eeeeeevil plots for domination (and, if I have time, the main RPG)

Well, we used to have yearly voting for new staff members; however, I think that tradition died away with some complicated circumstances.. which I don't really have a problem with. A lot of the modship-worthy, long term members have actually left and/or don't have enough internet time to do the job.

Right now, we have a pretty strong moderating team, so it probably won't be changing any time soon.

Although... Upon talking with a few others, I think Off-topic needs its own official mod with the sole duty of taking care of that forum. It needs a lot of attention and suffers from things that just don't get taken care of fast enough sometimes; I think recent events prove this.

I nominate myself.

But seriously speaking, I would go with either MF or Ambi. What we need is just a solid Off Topic moderator. Someone who is active enough but with a good sense of forum administration. Most of our best members are found in Off Topic, so I imagine it wouldn't be difficult to choose a good person for the position.

OT certainly needs a more steady moderator, thats for sure. Nothing against Rich personaly, but things could be handled better and faster if another person was brought on the OT team. The entire ordeal with Lord Vulcher got way out of hand and should have been dealt with when it started. Alas, no mods were around.
