I have a right to eat junk food.

All this bullshit on TV about how there is some kind of major health epidemic because of junk food, and the government and preachy selfish leaf munching morons who only fart because they've forgotten how to laugh, they're all ganging up on junk food like it's some kind of shameful spunk-surfing sexually transmitted disease that needs to be stamped out.

Super Size Me (the stupid documentary that sets out to prove that if you eat junk food every day, you will become unwell) has resulted in McDonalds not putting much salt on their fries, and serving salads, and other stupid healthy shite. I mean really... if people want healthy shite, then what are they doing in a McDonalds? Why does it need to be foisted on people who rather than visiting the organic section at the supermarket have decided to eat out in a fast food resteraunt? Do they not even consider the target market?

And what about all this recent news about how the medical establishment will set out to try to crack down on fast food? WHY? I have a right to eat goddamn fast food. I sometimes WANT to eat over salted, greasy shite. I sometimes WANT to drink sugary milkshakes. I want to LIVE goddamnit, I want to enjoy my life once in a while, there's no point spending your whole life living on raw vegetables just so that you can live to some disgustingly old age and die unsatisfied from shitting your bowels out after a particularly long bout of fruit-juice-enduced diaorrhea.

Discuss:
-How "health experts" are about as much fun as eating stones.
-The way that people seem to've forgotten that junk food is junk food.
-How we're pressured into being healthier and therefore living longer but not even enjoying all the extra time we have because our diet consists of grass frenchfries and McSeedburger meals with a water shake and a sidesalad of salad.
-How healthy food gives you runny shit, indicating that junkfood is required as part of a balanced bowel movement.

Junk Food! Whee!

It's what keeps me going and I never had any health complaints from it. Ever. And no-one is going to eat as much as the guy did in SuperSize me! Thats bullshit. I eat at McDonalds maybe twice a week, mostly just once, and I still enjoy every bit of it. But eating there EVERY DAY is out of the question o.o.

Junk food is good, tasty and maybe not the healthiest, but surely people are smart enough to know when enough is enough? (That's actualy a fair question).

Dino, you are aware McDonnald's salads contain sugar.

I'll admit, suing a fast-food company because "they made me fat" doesn't make sence. However, I do think all this anti-fast-food publicity can't be a bad thing.

Almost all fast food is too much if eaten every day (even if it's one fast-food meal and the rest 'normal' food). I've gotten to the point that I won't eat in McDonnalds and would eat a Burgar King if there was nothing else around to tickle my fancy (i.e. Once a month... at worst.)

Please tell me how Burger King is any diffrent then Mcdonalds? Next to the fact that everything BK makes is not eatable.

McDonalds aren't changing their scope because of the film. They're doing it because there has been a cultural change and people are turning off fast food. So they're promoting themselves as being healthy. So even if you go in and buy the most clog-inducing burger available, you trick yourself into believing it's good for you because you're eating at a place that also serves salad.

One thing about McDonalds serving salad, it isn't as healthy as it sounds, other than containing sugar, is that the salad is not that fresh, who knows how long they kept that chopped cabbage and tomatoes, so they spray stuff on it I rememberd.

In commerials I do see McDonalds promoting heathier foods and advice on how much you should exercise, yes their right, exercise as much as you can and burning those calories when your eating the stuff they sell :P But it realy depends how much you eat from such fastfood franchises, I myself feel like eating a juicey tasty burger, but like not everyday. But I prefer eating at KFC anyway.

The think about eating healthy it isn't just not getting fat, but helping to clean the toxics from our bodies.

Well, research showed that patties in Bk are 36% more (meat/beef) pound-for-pound than McDonnalds. (Admitidly, this was almost certainly funded by BK, and I can't remember whether it stated beef or meat {'meat' has been defined by the EU as skeletal muscle tissue only})

I wouldn't mind an outright banning of fast food here in the U.S. Sure, people have the right to eat what they want, blah blah blah, but Christ, it's just not good for them, and it's not good for the country. We don't need more fat people. We are the FATTEST NATION IN THE WORLD. It's apparent to me that Americans can't be trusted to make their own decisions about what they eat-- not when their options include the crap they sell at fast food restaurants. We need either some major cultural changes or some new regulations if there's ever going to be an end to it, and I don't think American culture is ever going to change that drastically.

Of course, my opinion only goes as far as the U.S. is concerned. It seems to me that other countries don't have the kinds of health problems we do, so I guess it doesn't really matter in other cases.

I'd say we're not the people to be concerned about when it comes to fast food and obesity in the US. The problem is poor families that either can't afford fresh, healthy food or where the parents are working long hours so they don't have the time to prepare dinner themselves.

Who, me?

You should know I've lost 3 pounds in the last two weeks.

How? By not going to the gym once and eating a tonne of junkfood.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

Oy, I love fastfood (excpet how they obtain the meat), I just love suckin down those greaseballs ands drinking stale nine moth old soda with fried up greased fries to match. The pleasure. But yes, it is positively deplorable over here in America. There have been soo many fatties sewing McDonalds in the claim of "Their food made me fat" that they could reinnact the Johnstown flood of 1889 as the flood!

The problem lies in being too childish and immature to admit that it was your fault that you are fat (unless it is truly genetic) and so you blame it on much bigger, more believable entities so you can gain a tion of money and what do you do with it? You don't get lypo or gastric bypass, you march your fatty fat fat ass back to Ol' Micki Dee's to order a large triple cheesburger with a milkshake and fries. And could I get some pie with that please?

Of course you have a right to eat fast food; it's just that people shouldn't have the right to supply it.

As others have pointed out, McDonald's is only updating its image to correspond to contemporary society. It's as much a money-making scheme as it is that gas-guzzling giants are becoming green and eco-friendly, which is the bottom line for them. The trouble with letting them achieve that any way they want is that there are people out there who are too stupid to take care of their own bodies and diets. I don't think the occassional trip to the fast food dispensary is going to do the average person any net biological damage. If you want to complain about the source of the issue, find the parents of the people who can't even control what enters their mouths.

This all ties in with a concept I hold dear to my cholesterol-encrusted heart, and that concept is: Leave me the fuck alone and let me live however the fuck I want.

If I want to be fat, I'm gonna be fat. Hell, I'm 6'3'', I have wide shoulders, and a big frame. I think it fits me. The last thing I need is some living barbie doll with cheekbones that could open a can of beets giving me health advice. But if that's the way she wants to live, who am I to say no?

That's not to say that you shouldn't try to stay active. I may be a whopping 260-something pounds, but I make sure I get outside and either walk or ride my bike at least 3 days out of the week, maybe 4. As long as I'm keeping active, I'm fine.

But yeah, live and let live. People don't practice that enough. You don't tell me that I'm fat and need to lose weight, and I don't remind you of how skinny-as-all-hell you are and how a few extra burgers wouldn't kill ya.

Absolutely. Live and let live...

But what I don't get is what max was saying about it being wrong to supply it. What's so wrong in making your living selling people shit that they chose to buy? And if they aren't mentally fit to choose, then isn't that really the failing of the health services and not the people who serve it to them? They're not psychiatrists, they're resteraunt owners. If someone closes down McDonalds, all that will happen is people who want burgers will go to a different fast food chain, and if they're all closed, they'll cook their own, and if it gets too oppressive they'll just leave the country. If people want something, they will persue that want until they have it, and they have every right to do so. And people have every right to set up their business around that.

Why are we in britain so goddamn obsessed with harming business? Because of our stupid politically correct views (for instance, saying no to fast food), we now have no industry, and import just about everything. Our export market is one of the worst in the world and employment is suffering because of it. This means that our economy is going down the drain, the cost of living is going through the roof, and britain is turning into a fancy little retirement island full of people who're living off the pensions they earned back when Britain actually had some decent jobs on offer.

Pitiful.

I feel that all of these people are trying to get kids to stay healthy, which is why McDonalds are promoting healthy living, while i admit their salads are cruddy lumps, it shows that if kids are told by something they love (all kids love junk food) to eat healthy well they most likely do it, we are really aiming at people tkaing up only one seat on the bus here (:P), if kids start dying at an incredibley low ge then the worlds population will gradually go down until we're all to fat to have babies we ourselves shall end up becoming exctinct (well thats my view on this healthy living)

"What are you holding on to, then?"
"You."
"I mean besides me."
"What do you mean, besides you?" said Twoflower.

You should ask Luke about that one, its a strange tale of fear and suspense.
I raped his account.

It's OK! I know him in real life (more or less). Therefore, everything I do to him is good. Or something.

And I second Cheese's opinion of Chik-Fil-A, the best fast food restaurant in existence.
