Suhweet! On that note I need to check if there are any decent portal maps released at this point!

Well thats becuase Gears of War 2 isn't out yet and the one you are playing is just the same normal one but with added content.

Anyway, On topic!

I wonder how they could add to the story of Portal

This is good news for all of us...

... exept the ones who are dead.

But there is no use crying over every mistake.

You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

You know the rest.

Off by heart.

PS: Do you think that Portal 2 may be a bit more... serious, then Portal? I don't want it to be, but I get the feeling that is where Portal is headed...

That would be pretty damn awesome. How do you think it would happen? Gorden Meets Chell? Gorden discovers the wreckage of Apature Labs?

Well, we still don't know what the new gamplay mechanic that will be introduced in HL Episdoe III is going to be, so maybe it WILL be the Portal gun.

There's a big chance we see the portal gun return in Episode 3 since the story is set on an Apperture Science transport ship.

Hehe, that whole interview just for a brief sentence. :P Hope she's right.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with for Portal 2. Maybe they'll have the Portal gun in the wilderness as Bullet Magnet suggested (would provide for interesting puzzles, especially over terrain destroyed by either The Combine or portal storms), or it'd be an extension of the Half-Life 2: Ep3 storyline (but you'd need of played HL2:Ep3 to get it, so that would be a bad idea if they're thinking of doing that).

Can't wait though.

Yes! Terrific news!
Only way I see this working is if you control another surviver of the labs, and seek to free the remaining test subjects, and possibly if there are any crew members left, them too, also, you have a chance to run into GlAdos again. She is one of my favourite video characters of all time, up there with Saren, Sandra cohen, Molluck and Rian. Damn I'm a sucker for anti villians.
Or possibly she could be running wild in the wilderness of the half life world, like said above, but I tend to find the half life world boring, unless you're inside a facility, like the museum, citadel and prison, or in case of portal, the apature science facility.
Wait, did the facility blow up, or just the area with GlAdos?

I think another test subject trying to flee would be awesome...

Flee from inside the Borealis and then be rescued by GF

I'm not sure I'd like to play with the portal gun in the wild

Ok, they're probably not, I have a vocab of an ordinary teen, but you know what I meant. I basically was saying they're the opposite to antiheros.
Hmm, I'd think it would be better if it was set in another facility, probably apature science's, a rival company, or a company that is in affailtion with apature science, and you have either a crew member, or a test subject.
That way, there's opportunity for a brand new story, more questions about the first game answered, a fresh new facility, new enimies, characters, possibly living people/ aliens to encounter this time.
Still Haven't played any of the HL games, or HL ep 2, so don't know that much about the universe yet, so I don't want to say much else, but the inclusion of aliens may be a double edged sword, hopefully they're left out, and portal is set before the black messa incadent, but by what GlAdos says in the song, I think this unlikely.

As for the story in Portal 2 I think we should be looking in the area of Prequal. I don't see portals working in an outside area for oh so many reasons. It was a very fun game but it won't work in any other format then the lab specific puzzles, at least I don't think so. Of course Valve has a rep for being very creative so we'll wait and see .

How about a Prequal playing as GLDos where you have to kill as many test subjects as you can.

Could anyone please post here if they have a problem with what I say in this thread, rather than just giving me a negative rep saying thing that don't explain anything, like "don't."
That way, at least I'll stop what I'm doing if I disagree with you, otherwise, I just keep being myself, and I don't care about rep points anymore anyway.
Anyways, I realy don't want a prequal, it's just it seems like nothing you do counts, and you don't even get to see your conciquences, however, it's a different story when I play game series in the wrong order (like KOTOR), but I just don't like it when they're made backwards.
But that's just me.
Also, the apature science facility still seemed to be in operation, I'm sure the next game could take part in there.

No. The facility pictured in Portal is probable inoperable. Since GLAdOS was the one controlling it, I doubt the rest of the AS facility would be online, after her "untimely" demise.

*spoilers*
But she didn't die, and I'm sure it was her who activated all of the globe things at the end, and denighted the cake.
And then she had to be over obvious and sing that song, which is quite nice.
But maybe a rival building would be a better idea, as it would also have a different layout to the apature science facility, rather than just another one.
