What Scares You?

Lately, I've become obsessed with scares and jumps. I just love them, I feel like I've been searching the internet for things that will scare me.
I'm not talking about the concept of scariness or facts and information that is disturbing or scary. I mean some motherfucking headless girl jumping out of your screen and making you jump through the roof.
The game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent definitely does the trick for me. I've also been done by the Scary Maze Game.
What do you guys think? What scares you?

I live next to some woods and run around in them at night without a torch, with the wildlife watching me.

I've seen weird, unexplainable things IRL that would have made me question my sanity if others hadn't seen them as well - Like when me and a friend saw a featureless, black, human-shaped shadow suddenly appear directly in front of us, watching us from a window that was one meter away, despite having no light backing it - Something which I've written off as "unexplained" rather than "scary"...

...However, Amnesia: The Dark Decent scares the living shit out of me for some reason. Normally horror games don't have much of an effect on me - Perhaps that's a testament to how well the atmosphere is done. But there's something about being unarmed while being chased by monsters that can run faster than you can, warp through walls, drive you insane and hurt you all at the same time that really gets me somehow. And those EYES! Those WILD STARING EYES! Gah!

So yeah. I'm scared of a game. And that's embarrassing.

My RL phobias though are boring mundane fears: losing loved ones or things that are dear to me, the fear of being totally alone, things jumping out at me when I least expect them (though that triggers the "fight or flight" response rather than being scary), genuinely fearing for my life when I'm cycling and a car passes me within millimetres of my handle bars at high speed - That type of thing.

My mom dying. Mostly because I feel really guilty about some of the shit she's gone through and knowing parts of her life were so miserable without at least getting to retire and be happy would make me feel heartbroken.

I'm terribly frightened of tall, lanky creatures. Not Slenderman (well, kinda) but more like aliens. Something unearthly and hateful that greatly resembles the human form just freezes me right up. By extension I have a fear of being followed by unknowables when walking up a dark staircase and tall shadows of my walls at night.

After playing through a session of Amnesia (usually in my dark room late at night), I usually get up and walk through the hallway in pitch black. It's amazing how easily you can scare yourself over tiny things. Creaks in the floorboards, my own shadows, the wind whistling and pure silence freaks me out to the stage of running through the halls jumping around like a little girl until I find a light switch.

I hate heights as well!

One for me is an obscure game back on Windows 95 called Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time. It is a fantastic game but damn it is scary. I must have been around 7 or 8 when I was playing and goodness me, the dark corridors and spooky music, but most of all, it was the people you'd talk to that were scary, sometime they would randomly pop up...

Like this guy, Reverand Edgar Trout, this particular screenshot is from part of the game where your walking down a corridor and he randomly pops up and tells you about his wife who died doing charity work in India.

Just look at how creepy his eyes are!

On the subject of games. The Fleeches and Slogs scared the hell outta me back when I was a kid. I remember getting stuck at the part in Bonewerkz where you have to run from slogs near the end of the level because I was so scared of them

Darkness mostly.

Other than that, there's this one picture of a doll-like face that I just can't really look at. I suppose I could man up and copy paste it here. I'll look for it and do it.

EDIT: Fuck it, I don't want to look for the picture. Its eyes, man, the eyes.

The only thing that ever scared me in Oddworld was when Sligs would spawn off screen and run in, seeing a Slig running in is scary enough but the music just enhanced it.

Ah the Paramites creeped the hell out of me and the Scrabs and Fleeches made me panicky.
And there's a few flash games on the web similar to your Titanic one, Jenny, that have random popups that sometimes give you a good fright.

Pretty much most of Oddworld scared me as a kid. I still loved the shit out of it. The thrill and fear you got from being chased by a Scrab was like no other game I'd played.

I'm scared of clowns, spiders and my mum having another baby. The last part sounds incredibly stupid, I don't even know why I'm scared of the idea. I just really don't like babies.

I've heard this one quite a few times. When I used to watch scary films with my friends they hated having their feet dangling over the sofa in case something grabbed them.

Long legged spiders, in fact any insect with disproportionately long, thin legs.

That bloke in Soho scared me somewhat, more because I was wondering if he'd follow us and if 'd have to fight him, more so because I knew I couldn't win if it came to it.

Now I remembered the name of it. Trypophobia. Just fucking eww. I suppose it's kind of the same as STM said about his phobia of buttons, this is the same for me. I'm so fucking grossed out by lots of holes in human skin or anything similar. Now, I'm going to leave this thread forever because I just know that one of you assholes has to post a picture related to it and I don't need any of that. I've seen at least three pictures that have triggered it for me and I can still remember them clearly. It's just horrible.
