I love the idea of having the strong silent hero in steef but I think something OI might be overlooking is the antihero. the kind that I am talking about would be like steef in such that it is the strong silent type with a strict sense of honor and obligation. The only difference would be that the character is a fanatic of some kind. Say that it has some knowledge of some item that could turn the tide against the war with the industrialists and has been seeking it for years. Further suppose that in the guise of ultimately helping every creature on oddworld it will make some indiscretions that will actually lead to self loathing. Maybe he would sacrifice some companions for the greater good. kind of let them die if he doesn't think that he can save them and obtain his goal. Maybe he would kill someone he loves. I don't know. I do know that that kind of self hatred mixed with an undying need to go on would be really strong emotionally. discuss.

Steef is a new type of character that OWI has come up with. But Lorne described Steef as "wearing his poker face", meaning he hides his emotion in business dealings. So there must be a deeper side of Steef that we haven't seen yet. It may be what you're talking about old and not so tasty. Or he could just be a big baby...not likely though!

I'm glad to see that most people agree with me in the idea that oddworld is more than just a game. Also everyone who answered to the can I touch you? section needs to send me your address and time you can be touched, er, reached. yeah thats it. reached.

oddworld has brought art to the world of games. and I'm not talking about art as in drawing. I'm talking about finding beauty and wonder in the world. It has a message mixed with an interesting story and complex characters. It shows us the difference between greed and love. It asks the question how far are we willing to go? How much power are we willing to give to a government that is run by nothing but corporations. They already abuse this power. How long until we are overrun by the glukkons. Amidst all of this they are still able to show societies of majestic creatures making their way through life. I am not one to say that oddworld is a lifestyle but is art in its truest form. If that doesn't make it more than a game I don't know what does.

I love the creativity of oddworld! I mean, they had to come up with a whole new world and bring it to life! I applaude OWI!

One of the pics of Steef- I thought looked kind of sad- and there might even have been a tear on his face- Maybe he does have a sensitive side...

Oddworld is an interactive story in a home entertainment medium. YOu have major character developments, plot lines, allusions to the real world, parodies of the real world, and comedy mixed in with the overall drama of Abe and Munch so far. This could have been published as a fantasy book in a time when gaming consoles were not around. So it is more than a game. It is a saga, a quintology, jsut as it was presented from the beginning.

We are int he middle of a turning point of the story of Oddworld. chapters are yet not written. Steef is the next in line. What fate will he have? Shall I wait now, or later?
