Go!Zilla

Go!Zilla does not go. At 1 measly megabyte per twenty minutes, i can't say it's the fastest download time I've ever had - in fact, it's the slowest. Ever. Ever, ever, ever.

Does anyone here know of a program that speeds up downloading, and, actually, speeds up downloading? Preferably it should be downloadable from the net.

Or does anyone here have a Go!Zilla that works? If so, what's your amazing tactics? Does yours download stuff faster than a kilabyte per second? Does your 'download time to go' thing actually decrease, or increase like mine?

Well, I knew I had a rubbish computer, but...
Well, what a nice topic this was - and my very first on this new board.

I have GoZilla! on this computer and notice that the download times are slower than my new computer by a long shot (obviously combination of both computer speed and GoZilla! from what you say Max).

I'm not planning on putting it on my new computer at all, for the reason that when you go to watch a movie or listen to a MP3 file... it makes you save it to your computer rather than watching it from the net. That's OK if it's an Oddworld movie... but I don't want to keep other stuff (I can delete them, but why should you if you can watch online). They say that you can override w/ the Shift key, but that usually doesn't work.

Automatic saving is what I want, but I'd have thought they'd give you an option or something...

I got the thing, really, for the sole purpose of fast downloading. Seeing that that doesn't work, can anyone recomend something that doesn't come with all these useless aditional rubbish things?

Gozilla really sucks. It slows down your download, and it has tons of banner ads. I use Netscape Smart Download, its small, with no banners. It speeds my downloads up to 7 and 8 k per second. (I am still on 56k).

Hello, Max!

I usually use a program called GetRight, to download files, and a program called HTTrack, to make offline copies of sites.

This last one is very small, and doesnt have a professional look, actually. But it always worked very well. With both I can reach 5-7 kbps of download ratio, with a 56k modem.

Lampion, you should give Netscape Smart Download a try. Its a small program, proffesional looking, and very simple. Boosts my download time by a lot.

Hmm, can any of those recomended programs be downloaded from the Internet. I fear I can't use Netscape Smart Download, for I have Microsoft Explorer (Netscape don't work all too good on my comp).

Oh well, at least I've got a couple of things to look for. Thanks, everyone.

Use Getright, it rocks. I very rarely have any problems with it whereas Go!Zilla just gave me trouble constantly.
