Question CPU Usage 100% when playing the original games (STEAM)

Hello guys. Today i noticed something strange.
I recently overclocked my CPU, so i frequently check my CPU temps, just to be sure that everything is ok.
I was playing Exoddus(on steam), when i tabbed out. I checked hwmonitor and i saw that my CPU usage was 90-100% when i was playing the game.
After some more checking i am now sure that both of the original games push my CPU so hard for some reason. Anyone else experience something like this?
My Cpu is a Xeon X5460 OC'ed at 4Ghz(On stock clocks, this xeon is a bit faster than a C2Q Q9650). And no, i am not running a server. There is a mod to run s771 CPU on s775 boards.
Thanks in advance

Try the ddhack and say if it helps.

Hey man thanks for the reply. No it didnt, and i noticed that the game fell kinda choppy.
I still use a 4:3 monitor, so i dont need it anyway.
Its not a huge problem, but i dont get why my Xeon get abused to run a, almost 20 year old game

Yeah, it sometimes helps with other compatibility issues, too. Unfortunately, it didn't help with yours.

AO/AE are DOS-era games, it's really weird that they use up all your CPU capabilities. Are you absolutely sure that doesn't happen with any other game? Or that your antivirus isn't interfering?
