I've only read the first book and I must say, I actually liked it. Story was good, interesting characters, can't say anything about the language since I read it in Swedish and it wouldn't be all accurate, what with some parts being lost in translation.

However, I'm not all too excited about him writing the next HHGTTG book. It doesn't feel right, but I'll be the judge of that after I've read the book.

I love the Artemis Fowl series. He's a great writer. Just... not good enough for this.

I thought it was a hoax at first also, but it looks like it isn't. I imagine I'll read it when it comes out and will hate it by default.

Artemis Fowl is good. But this sounds weird.

I am, however, going to reserve judgement until after I have read the book. Doing it the other way around is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Yes, you be the judge. There is noone more qualified.

I've already stated my views on fanfiction a few times, and I think you all know where I stand. Also, I don't care if it's considered canon. It's still disgusting fucking fanfiction.

I’ve never heard of this author or this Fowl series, but I expect I will be as disappointed by this as I am both terrified and offended by the news that someone other than Douglas Adams’ still fully atheist ghost is attempting a continuation of the H2G2 series.

If I am pleasantly surprised by the result, I expect I will still be terrified and offended.

Oh my. Though I did enjoy Artimus Foul when I read it, I've gornw up some since then. and seeing as the bulb of his latest books suggests that Artimus is now travaling back in time to fight himself, I don't have high hopes for this book.

I find it a little distastful when somone other then the original author tried to write that authors book. Yuck.

There is quite a good precedent for this guys, Tolkien anyone?

Anyways I'm not going to judge a book by its author.

The fact that around half of his bibliography was published posthumously by his son?

Granted it isn't quite the same thing and nothing inspired from his manuscripts and fragmented works could ever quite have the same literary value as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but it still proves that the spirit of a good fantasy universe can transcend the original authors mortality.

Those were mere fragments that his son put togethor and edited for his father. Not the same as writing new story. He didn't pull a Brian Herbert, may he forever rot in his own filth.

I like the HHGTTG books, and i like Artemis Fowl, but i'd hate to see them written by the same author.
