Google Chrome (I guess the other browsers can come too.)

So, what's the verdict? Large pile of commercial poo, or internet surfing ultra-prophet? IMSOEXCITED

Here, because you've probably tried it, you tell us the truth. I say, it's shit. It looks nice, feels smooth, and then you realize it's essentially IE. Whatever. This isn't about me, it's about the worthless peasants. SO TELL ME

Have it, tried it, love it.

I have it installed next to Firefox and use it every once in a while to compare performance on certain sites to Firefox. I have to say I'm very very impressed with it's speed. Pages load ULTRA fast and the browser launches ULTRA fast.
It still needs a lot of work in some areas like options and interface but this has good potential to replace my Firefox installation all together in the long run.

I am indifferent to the matter as I know nothing about it. Your posts did not inform me about it at all.

I'm not really warming to Chrome. Unless they come out with better features than FireFox, I'm pretty much going to stay faithful to Mozilla.

It's quite basic, but it's very fast. I'm a bit disappointed about the lack of mouse wheel click scrolling. Still, I may use it every now and then.

Tried it at work and liked it. Did have to learn to browse in different ways because our work intranet uses javascript popups and Chrome doesn't allow them. Still, I often have a lot of tabs open at once and Chrome handles that well. Didn't do so well the time I had about thirty tabs open, what with each tab being a different process (and thus more memory and processing power).

Trying it at home for the first time for my usual browsing and haven't made up my mind yet. It doesn't seem to zoom correctly to the first unread post here in OWF. Also, I can't work out how to turn off spellchecking. And the fact that a little box pops up at the bottom every time I hover over a link is shitting me.

So, in summation, it's good but the Options dialog is way too limited; I should be able to change much more shit than it lets me.

I'm using it, but it is horrible with anything shockwave atm.

Also, I miss the file/whatever bar. it took me a while to figure out bookmarks, as I am stupid.

kind of like it, though.

I'm using it right now, but I do prefer Firefox due to the fact that in Google Chrome's bookmarks are a little harder to organise. I think I may be back to Firefox soon.

I still have absolutely no clue what Google Chrome is. Must be a futuristic version of Google, where Google has become self-aware, and has taken over the world's defenses, creating a malevolent robot army.

IE? What is this IE?

*Googles*

Wiki: An ancient program developed by Microsoft which was rumored to be able to surf the world wide web. While some did accomplish this goal it's main features seemed to include displaying random colors and text while asking the user permission to install friendly programs on the computer. Offers for free penis enlargements were also part of the program but Microsoft defined these as some of the program's many easter eggs. As a parody users later added offers for free breast enlargements.
IE, or Internet Explorer, has been missing in action ever since a fox who had lit his tail on fire took it out for a match of paintball. IE hasn't been seen since.

I really don't like not having a search box. I don't like having to type in the name of the search engine I use. I don't like it that when I select and right-click text, I can only search for those keywords using the default search engine.

Bah! I'm still using it though.

Wow, Havoc, that was both witty and hilarious. I don't know how you do it, you're always so on with your humour. I never really got into FireFox, it's just IE x Opera, and I didn't like Opera.

Yeah, not having a search-box is a bit a of a shit, but it searches Google if you type what you want to search into the address bar.

I always hated the search box in Firefox. I hated having to a) go to a different field and b) have to select which engine to use, when I could just use the regular address bar and precede my search terms with a ‘g’ for Google, ‘w’ for Wikipedia, ‘oam’ for the Oddworld Forums Administrator Control Panel Member Search, etc. The seeming inability to use this in Chrome distresses me, but maybe it is possible: I still can’t work out where the fuck my bookmarks are.

Another thing I miss are all my plugins and add-ons that make everything so much smoother and faster, but comparing the basic packages so far, I won’t dwell on that.

One thing that I absolutely, positively adore is the ‘Inspect Element’ option in the context menu. It’s so amazingly handy for a web developer like me. It doesn’t have anywhere near the power as Firefox’s Developer Bar, but it’s easier to use.

EDIT after a bit of trying: I found my bookmarks. What a stupid place to put them. So I have to have my empty bookmarks bar out just to call up my list of bookmarks? How stupid. I can’t even move it into the top bar, or get rid of the reload button. The lack of customizationability is strangling me.

The adres bar IS the search bar. If Chrome can't find any matches to your previous visited sites or possible websites you want, it will search in a searchengine for the terms or adres you typed.

So if you visited a page about apples a few days ago, instead of having to bookmark it Chrome will just remember it for you and all you have to do to get back to it is type: Apples.

Except that if I want to search Wikipedia specifically, I need to type 'Wiki apples'. And that took me a while to work out, because I was originally trying 'Wikipedia apples' or 'Wikipedia.org apples'. Either way it's more effort than clicking a mouse button and typing 'apples'.

I wouldn't mind so much if I could edit the keywords; perhaps make it 'w apples'. I still haven't worked out how to do googleimage.

Also, I found more sites that don't work very well on Chrome.
Frankly, limiting Javascript may have been an intelligent idea, but it wasn't all that smart.
On Facebook:
1) I couldn't remove a friend; the dialog wouldn't come up

2) The poking dialog doesn't come up; I get linked to a different page, like used to happen in 2004

3) The buttons in the Are YOU Interested app don't work

4) When you're looking at photos, you can't move from page 1 to any other pages of the album

It's nice to have something you work on on a daily basis work like you want it to work. Especially if you're leaving personal info.
