NnT could be coming to mobile

OWI is toying with the idea and already has a demo running on Android:

I don't think it's coming to mobile platforms that way, it only means that they were able to chop it off enough to run it on Nvidia Shield, which is definitely not like an ordinary smartphone. Still, nice to see them experiment like this.

I dont like the idea of playing it on mobile.

How many other platformers like NnT have appeared on mobile. I dread thinking of the Elum sections on touchscreen.

One of the best platformers on mobile is still Rayman Jungle Run. And there is a reason for this: it's an adaptation of Rayman Origins but it was re-designed for mobile. They simplified the controls and made brand new levels (using assets from Origins) that were short (40sec), fun and easy to play on mobile. Yet they managed to include enough challenge so that you don't 100% each level on your first try.

I'm not saying OWI should take the same route, but when I see all the efforts they did for Rayman I have doubts that simply porting a complex game like NnT on mobile will result in a enjoyable game. Especially when you see how many controls there are in NnT.

I thought jungle run was an endless runner. This will be a port of the full game (thats what it looks like anyways).

No it's not.

Yes it is, and it's exactly why I'm voicing my concern.

I can barely control NNT on a physical controller, let alone a virtual one. I'd just prefer the Vita port.

If they figure out a way to port it on android - great! It certainly wouldn't be the version I would be interested in playing, but if it can reach people who otherwise would never come in contact with the Oddworld franchise, that's great.

I think it's a good thing OWI are expanding their franchise to as many platforms as possible, because that ensures they keep existing as a company and at the same time maintains a stable cash flow that enables them to make new games.

Yes, that is my only concern about the mobile version, too. But I'm sure they figure out a way that controls nicely on touch screens.
