Origin of your username

What's the story behind your OWF username, why'd you pick it? Is it some elaborate inside joke, or simply a random word or string of words?

In my case, I picked Taco because I could not, for the life of me think of a proper username, and I love mexican food. It's also slang for vagina.

So what about you guys? I'm kinda curious (no, not bicurious) about OANST, is that an acronym for something?

*moves*

It's been a while since we had this discussion, so this shall live and thrive!

My original username was nate_dog_woof, which came from a bad joke amongst my circle of friends at the time that led to me being called "Nate Dog" for all of two weeks. When I signed up, I really couldn't think of anything better to use.

A few years back I got sick enough of it to ask for a change*. I considered Thorn, which is my most commonly used nickname but went with Nate instead simply because that was what everyone was already calling me here and because it was similar enough to nate_dog_woof as to avoid confusion. I'm still not entirely happy with it, mainly because it leads people to think that I want to be called 'Nate' in real life. Which I don't.

*I was an admin back then, so I could have made the change on my own, but username changes are regarded as such a big thing that I thought it best to get confirmation from the mod body anyway.

Kastere is just a gibberish name I made up when I was delivering newspapers about 4-5 years ago. I couldn't think of anything better at the time, but I'd like to change it now since I have something better that is also an anagram for my real name. So yeah.

At one point someone told me it was Dutch for 'drunk' but they were wrong.

Also, fun fact: Wings of Fire is also an attack from Gundam Wing, which WoF likes.

T-nex sounds like a cleaning solution <.< It rhymes with Kleenex.

Resident codgers-in-action probably remember the origin of my name because of the proper avatar that went along with it.

Pilot is (was) a character in a series that aired on the Sci-Fi channel called Farscape. He was joined to a living prisoner transport ship named Moya and controlled all of Moya's operations from a room in the center of the ship (affectionately named 'Pilot's Den') and communicated the ship's feelings and needs to the crew, and vice-versa.

Pilot was compassionate, intelligent, modest, arguably lonesome, along with young and mildly naive. Still my favorite Sci Fi character ever. His head always reminded me somehow of the Sydney Harbor Opera House.... being an Australian production; small wonder. Taco, this should answer your question also from another thread.

This is Pilot:

Thanks for the info Pilot, who now mysteriously has the location and avatar that Used had. I was considering Pilot as my username for obvious reasons, but the I saw that there was another member with the name. I mean, I could've easily used some sort of variation of the word 'pilot' but I think I was drunk when I joined the forums because I don't remember doing it very clearly...

My original name was Sligslinger, which at the time I thought was so fucking clever. After being banned, I returned under Sekto Springs, only because it also contracts to "SS". Yeah, I'm that creative.

All things considered, I would love a name change, but apparently those have to be earned around here.

Mine was conceived just after I'd introduced my eldest nephew to Oddworld. Goldfinger was on the television, and my nephew (12 at the time) added "Abe" onto the end of everything I said. "Here's Oddjob." I told him.
"Abe!" he said. And this sprang to mind when I joined up. The "Abe" part bugs me a little bit now, but I've gotten used to it.

In 2002 for D&T we had to make a piece of jewelry. I made Squall's pendant 'Griever' from FF8 and I had an unofficial guide that misspelt it 'Grieva', when I started playing NWN about then I needed a name, had it in my head and have used it ever since!
