What's that touch pad going to be used for?

I want you to sit here and think about this question for a minute.
The things that appeal so much to people about the DS, 3DS, Wii, and Wii U are that they allow you to interact with the games in more ways than just pressing a bunch of buttons. With the introduction to a touch pad of some kind, don't you think they would try to implement the use of the touch pad into games? It gives you more than just buttons to work with, and could be used for many simple challenges. It could also double as a mouse. Instead of spinning an analog stick or pressing directional buttons to move the cursor on a screen, you have a touch pad in it's place. While it might not be the best method to control the cursor, it will be a lot more convenient and familiar to many people.
In short: who knows? It could really be used for anything.
