F-F-FINAL BOSS!
"You know Doctor, if this works out well, you could be on your way to a promotion in this organization!"
Those were the only words of motivation I had. I was supposed to build some kind of...ultimate weapon. An engine of destruction. My criteria were somewhat simple: It had to blend organic with robotic, be marketable, easy to produce but not to replicate...
And it had to be able to put up a fight against The Consumer. And win. Maybe.
I always wondered why he chose that name; so much negativity tied to it, and what did he consume? Sure he caused a lot of collateral damage, but did he actually CONSUME things?
The answer to that is what truly made this a challenge: The Consumer was able to bond with anything at the molecular level and utilize it as an extension of his body. Everyone loved watching The 'Con' fight, it was so alien, so powerful. He'd get knocked back a few blocks, there'd be a pulse of blue, and then suddenly he'd have a house for a hand.
But I had to beat him.
Others in my field would view it as a challenge, a chance to stretch their brain, but I'd worked with The Consumer before I switched sides.
Switched nothing, you got a goddamn transfer to Anatagonist Relations.
I probably got this because they thought I 'knew' him. I didn't know anything about The Con that anybody with an internet connection couldn't find out in five minutes, indestructible, not of this plane and nutty as fuck. That's what bothered me the most. Why would they put me on the job to construct and operate something against him? We were practically adversaries if not for the incontrovertible physical advantages he had. Not even dumber than me. Great.
I got to work on the biological portion first, set a team out to construct some simple universal bonding points, nice and by the book. I ordered a big, fancy holographic display system. Carried around a little broadcast pad and wrote down ideas. Might as well spoil myself.
I wrote down any idea that came to me and came up with a concise list of what to take note of.
The Consumer:
-Prefers blunt force and melee over projectile or edged combat.
-Only recorded projectile weaponry is (according to the Research staff and our History student temp) what appears to be the artillery equipment of a World War II battleship, only used at close range.
-Loses mass when damaged, but is a negligible weakness given his ability to absorb objects on contact.
-Has limited elasticity; bounces more than he should, but can't stretch farther than 27 feet of own volition, maximum stretch of 40 feet before
-Only 4 prehensile limbs, but joints not limited by bones and tissue can pass through itself.
More later, I just had kind of a scare in that my old, withered, decrepit dog somehow escaped from my back yard.
