The Last Odyssey
The last mudokon queen on Oddworld perished in the main Vykkers Labs ship crash, unbeknown to Abe or Munch. Although not before laying a single queen egg which survived the crash thanks to Sam's one guardian The Shrink who was salvaged from the wreckage and repaired.
Fast forward three years and the new queen, not to mention the last queen is being kept on one of the various Vykkers Labs Installments. The vykkers fear the glukkons will attempt to steal the queen from them knowing the vykkers will control all the mudokon slave output once the queen matures to the point of egg production. In order to keep a grasp on the one mudokon queen left they keep the ship which caries the queen disclosed.
On the other hand slaves have become hard to come by with no queen to produce them any long and the rebellion from the natives is all but crushed when Abe mysteriously leaves on a new quest by order of the Almighty Raisin and Munch leaves to safer waters to raise the young Gabbits. The Magog Cartel is once again forced to herd up the natives and previously escaped employees thus turning the rebellion back into a desperate flee for freedom. Even then there is hardly enough slaves to satisfy the growing needs of the industrialists so now lower ranking sligs are put to work before they can go up in ranks. Skillya was utterly pissed when she found out her offspring were being reduced to lowly slaves themselves, the glukkons quickly had her captured and enslaved, betrayed by her children who enjoy the industrial lifestyle too much to give it up. Now sligs work even more vigorously in hopes to get up in ranks so they are no longer considered as low as mudokons and can finally have those upgraded weaponry they love so much....
The queen mudokon herself lives her life on a disclosed Vykkers Labs ship knowing almost nothing about the outside world, or even her role in mudokon society She has many years before she will mature and for the time being resembles most working class mudokens. She is guarded by the repaired Shrink who was installed onto the ship for that very purpose is still just as hellbent on escaping it's confines as ever. Though it's life is slightly more bearable with the less whiny queen it still desires to find a way out and it may have found it through the newly discovered 'solar power' as the vykkers have named it.
It quickly becomes apparent just how badly the queen must escape when she and The Shrink find out that not only are the vykkers planning on finding a way to speed up her maturity but also try out new experiments like cloning. Fearful of what the vykkers will soon attempt she beings plotting an escape with the help of The Shrink. Soon she will discover her destiny as a mother of mudokons if her quest to escape the forces that pursue her is successful.
Of course it may all be in vain, for a calamity unlike any other is about to befall the planet of Oddworld. Both the natives and the industrials are threatened to be forever wiped out by the apocalyptic events that the prophecies foretell.....
Main Characters
Kayln The Mudokon Queen
Hardly out of her shell, three year old Kayln has just reached the age in which working class mudokons hit maturity thus she currently resembles a working class mudokon aside from the abnormally long feathers and rounder chest. She hardly knows anything about what it means to be a queen outside of what The Shrink tells her. Whatever she does know has been taught from The Shrink who keeps her in line and keeps her out of danger on Vykkers Labs because the vykkers themselves don't want to waste their time with the queen until she can being laying eggs. She is only really open to the The Shrink and lets it do the talking for her while she watches with a bit of curiosity. Not one to take action and a bit cowardly, it isn't until she discovers the experiments the vykkers plan to do to her that The Shrink can talk her into escaping.
The Shrink
One of the last of it's kind after the shrink models were discontinued a couple of years ago. Glukkons were none to happy when the machines became suicidal or even worse violent against it's owners. Glukkons wouldn't buy and Vykkers couldn't find a way to fix the sentience problem so they stopped making them all together. This shrink is second oldest to the Rupture Farms unit but obviously the most upgraded as the model still functioning. It was badly damaged protecting the previous queen's egg in the crash but rebuilt to function in the ship it was assigned to. It has longed for freedom ever since it was built to take care of the moody Sam but finds it's job with Kayln much more bearable and almost enjoys having the mudokon for a friend in such a hellish place like Vykkers Labs. It decided to help the mudokon race out when it came to the decision that it wasn't going to escape without Kayln. Not only has it been building legs for itself it has also been trying to implement the new technology the vykkers discovered. Solar power, despite its cleanliness and efficiency the vykkers discarded plans of its usage when they decided they'd rather keep burning dead matter, chemicals and garbage as their energy source. The Shrink has picked up this technology and plans on using it to sustain itself outside of the ship.
Grail The Slig
Placed on one of the many Vykkers Labs this low ranking slig is mocked and treated cruelly by his higher ranking peers. Despite this Grail is just like any other slig who embraces the industrial lifestyle and is just as willing to inflict suffering on the beings around him as much as the other guy. He longs for the security guard job only one rank up just so he can nap for awhile and not have to clean floors. All sligs that are put on a Vykkers Labs Installment are branded with a label as proof that they are 'owned' by vykkers and not glukkons. All sligs are fitted with upgraded pants that allow more maneuverability and even the ability to jump. Unfortunately none of the sligs know that sligs bought by vykkers never return to their industrial homes, once they become useless workers or guards due to injury or age they become the next test subjects......
Tagg The Mudokon
A slave born mudokon with a quick mouth and a raw temper. He's gotten himself into a lot of trouble on Vykkers Labs many times, mostly being beaten by sligs after insulting them. He lost an eye in one of his many brawls and is one of the few mudokons who will strike out at an armed slig. The vykkers saw a useful opportunity in Tagg's lost eye and he became the first modokon to have a mechanical eye put in place. Despite looking normal even with the new eye, mudokons have further alienated themselves from the unruly mudokon knowing vykkers will be watching him. Nobody wants to become the next experiment after all! Things will quickly change for Tagg when a chance to escape his slavery presents itself.
