The A button (action button) actually performs a few tasks. In normal gameplay it is used for the jump (when Abe is running or standing still when not near anything). But the great part about it is it lets you do different things depending on where you are standing.
- In front of a vending machine - use that machine
- Behind a Mudokon or Abe - pick them up
- In front of a lever - pull it
- Near a rescue portal - open to allow Mudokons/Fuzzles to go through
- Near a device that requires Spooce - transfer spooce to it
I'm sure I've missed some, but you get the idea.
I found the controls very easy to do. No confusing button combinations like the previous games. The only thing you have to remember is when to hold down a button and when to tap it.
