Main RPG ideas.

I think it's about time to set up a main RPG.
As I don't have any good ideas myself, so I thought that maybe some of you, dear players would have some great ideas for the new RPG.

... You fool alpha. You don't plan the story you make it up as you go along! That's the point of RP'ing, you never know where the next person's going to take it!

I wouldn't mind having some kind of system with money and buying items and spells and stuff. That'd be cool. If it worked.

Well.... Having money and skills would be quite awesome. But that also means that the player would have to be fair. Like he could say that he found 10 mollah on the floor, but not always cuz then he'd just be rich and there would be nothing funny about it.

The problem with money and stats is that it quickly becomes over complicated, for some. Such as Hobo's main RPG, only myself and Hobo took part. It was extremely complicated for everyone but us. But it was still enjoyable.

I don't think it's complicated. People just have to be fair. Unless you used some special system...

Well, it had a system where you had a job and got paid a certain amount per post. You then had to edit your Characters money in the character list thread every post.
The stat system was very complicated (you buy stats with money, stats affect what job you can get) but as only me and Hobo were playing we never used it. You buy items in the shop thread with the money. There were lots of items and jobs available. The map was very large with many cities, villages and stuff. None of this was a problem for me but it stopped a lot of people from joining in.

Well... Maybe you could make a easyer system. I'd still say that it's also the responsibility of the player to be fair and make a good thing out of it. Meaning, that he could find 10 moolah... Then he could buy a weapon, and slaughter animals to sell their skin or whatevr. Then he would make more moolah. So we need stores too. I think there should be some stores from the start, which don't sell much stuff either. But as the rpg expands there will be more and more items available. But still, it is the players responsilbilty to make it fair. So we'd need someone to keep an eyes on it, and make sure that someone doesn't suddenly find 10.000.000 moolah on the floor.

The problem is also that there would be a lot of threads at once and would require a really commited moderator to supervise them all.
Solution: Have more mods.

Yup And it would be nice with mods that has sparetime... like me... I have too much sparetime. hmm..... But they wouldn't neceseraly(spelling?) have to be mods. They could alæso just be supervisors.... you know...

True, if there were more mods to organise things and keep the quality of play high it would be cool. I think we could do with Mods from various continents so that the mods are in constant control at all times (when others are asleep)

Problem is that there doesn't seem to be enough RP'ers to have a huge RPG with many areas. We could just have one area to start with and then say if someone wants to add a huge commercial city to the map they pm the mods and perhaps get some other players to help get the thread started with characters and mini-plots. If this happened for around a month we may have enough players...

Hmm.. Well, most forumers doesn't know how RPG is like, and maybe they don't bother to try... but with a little advertising, it could attract more members... But then the whole forum requires many members to have many RPG players... I think that there is just enough members on the borad, but probably only 10% of the board-members are RPGers

Advertising may attract the wrong type of people. If it's good word will get out. Also the people who stumble across it find something great as I did back when I made a valuable contribution.

Search back in this forum and find the "Thrallsom" thread and those surrounding it, if you can hack that sorta thing you'll have no problem.

Idea: You need a basic location and a description of what's in your head. Your character is posted in the character thread. You also get a job. In our fair democracy people decide how many stats and whatever species can get and how much per post a job will pay.

Character example: Mud named Mac. Job: Elum keeper.

Location: In a huge jungle there is a valley.At the bottom near a stream is a small mudokon village with a well in the centre. 1 shop. (as many houses as there are characters who wanna be a mud in the village)

First post:

Mac wakes up and walks out of his tent. He rubs his eyes in the morning sun as it breaks through the trees. Noone else in the village is up.

Mac: another beautiful morning.

Mac walks around the back of his tent to the Elum pen. Grint, his Elum gives him a dirty look and grunts roughly.

Mac: hey Grint, I need to go down to the stream to catch some breakfast.

Grint growls and spits at Mac.

Mac: ok, looks like I'm walking...

End of post.

Mac earns 10 moolah per post so Macs moolah= $10

That is how it works...

You know to us they are alien's If people arrived on Oddworld we would probably dominate them with the classic line of "Take us to your leader".

all these stats sound too complicated and i dont think that whole 1 post= 10 moolah will work out, then some idiots will just start posting things like

Mac went to sleep

and then it would get too crowded with stupid crap like that.
so maybe it should be divided into sectors, like 3 or so. one large central city, a forest, and a large industrial buliding.
the forest can be the place where all the native Chars. story and planning happen. the industrial building can be where all the Gluks and sligs and such plot and plan, and the central city can be where all the shops and such are.
as for moolah, jobs. have a list of jobs and the amount of moolah they offer.
your stats are determined by your job, as in you dont have stats till you have a job. there will be different levels of each job and once your stats hit a certain number you get promoted, so whatya think?

Hell ya! I mean warrior muds like in AO where you see all those paintings and stuff the muds could have thier own sort of guild. And with elums as there noble steeds it would be brill
