Question your opinion of citizens siege

now that we know the next oddworld game is called citizens siege and isnt set on oddworld i was just wondering what everyone thinks of it.

i know that not much about it is known but im not so happy about it because i want more games on oddworld not earth. thats what makes the games so good because theyre on another world and its strange, or should i say odd.

It is rather hard, nay impossible, to judge a film before we've even seen it. It's also very foolish, especially when we have so little knowledge about it.

Rest assured that while it is not Oddworld, it will have all of the same sensibilities that we love about Oddworld.

It is also more mainstream- they need to make a film like this in order to break into the film industry, to show that they're to be taken seriously, not just game guys who went to Hollywood to make another film of a game. It will get them the funding and the security to make the Abe film(s), and get new fans.

I agree with Bullet Magnet, though I am a bit nervous about this new film. What if it doesn't live up to things we expected? Although as Lorne is directing it, this hardly is a danger, but it could happen.

As for the conceptual Oddworld films, I'm also a bit worried if they add new things to the Oddworld Universe in terms of production design. Farzad's gone and I think Swanland's designs are a bit...less than groundbreaking. He's great with graphics and stuff, but designing just isn't his thing. IMO.

Other than that, I'm very much looking forward to the movies Oddworld Inhabitants is supposedly going to release.

Ok, to recap, it's set in the near future, and deals with poilitcal issues, lorne was inspired by such titles as 1984 (Which I must say sounds good, a truely good book, if not a bit depressing), and is dark, etc.
As posted above, it's too early to judge, maybe post ideas or such if you want to.
I expect alot from this game though, at least story and character wise.

I read in the web that the film will be a triller for serious and mature people. I agree with you .

I heard Citizen Siege will be some Sci-Fi sort of thing. I don't normally watch these kind of films but I'll watch it and see what I think of it. I hope Lorne does well because if he does it can inspire him to make more games for us.

I thought that Lorne created all the Oddworld stuff and the other guys just drew it. Why did Farzad leave? The only other people i know of on the Oddworld team are probably: Steven Olds, Raymond Swanland, Gautum Babar and Silvio Aebischer. So how many are left, cause if their running low on concept artists I would like to know for, future reference....4 years of University, then to Oddworld MWUAHAHAHA!

Lorne has the basic idea, but the artists realise it. They do drawing after drawing, each one submitted to Lorne who will then immediately reject them. This goes on until he sees something he likes, and they are a tiny bit closer to realising his vision (which, clearly has very little in the way of visual data in them).

The artists also compose possible backstories for all or parts of their designs, and seemingly most of the staff pull together to evolve these concepts and stories into a developed whole.

Why did Farzad leave?
Perhaps the same reason Farzad did. Both artists were probably hired to work for OWI for a specified amount of time. For Steven Olds, it may have been from 1994-1997, since that was the time period AO was made. For Farzad, it was probably from the beginning of MO to the release of the game. Unlike Raymond Swanland, who worked on many different subjects (outside of Oddworld) at one time.

More likely it was just that they wanted to do something different. Farzad, along with several other former Inhabitants, set up the studio that eventually became Half Moon and developed Dark Watch.

One of Lorne's goals for Citizen Seige is to show that CGI films can be serious and do not only have to consist of talking animals. I, for one, think it'll work well. The only thing good about the first Final Fantasy movie was the CGI. Take that, add a few years and a more than decent storyline (after all, it is Oddworld Inhabitants), and you have a masterpiece!

I, for one, am hoping that the Oddworld film coming soon will feature as much violence as the game does, if not more... but that's for another topic.
