What Podcasts do you listen to?

Pretty simple idea. If you're a podcast listener who do you like? Why?

I'm a big fan of My Brother, My Brother and Me. (MBMBaM), a comedy advice show. Their format can throw you off a little but stick with it, the comedy payoff is monumental.

I also recommend The F Plus, a group of internet dweebs take a bunch of horrible message board posts and give them funny voices. They've got at least one episode pertaining to some vague internet thing that you thought you were the only one aware of. Some of the readers are painfully unfunny though. I suggest giving the episodes: The Sound Quality is Inaudible, A Not at all Brief History of Dozerfleet and Why Can't Social Studies Class be More Like Call of Duty? a listen, I think they're very good.

I'm a huge fan of the Co-Optional Podcast. TB and Jesse Cox are two of my favorite YouTubers and it's just nice to have a podcast which talks about games as a whole. The industry, recent news and releases and also personal stories.

And waaay back when, I used to actively listen to the YoGPoD and was actually the reason why I started to love the Yogscast. That shit was hilarious and I really wish they bring it back every month or something.

Welcome to Night Vale is great, although it can get a bit out-of-tone and goofy, and the bits where he just babbles complete nonsense get a tad repetitive. Continuecast is pretty good too, especially if they're discussing a game you like.

The Thinking Atheist A non-confrontational show, host Seth Andrews has a very approachable, professional, and intimate style, which seems to serve largely as a regular sanity check for other non-believers surviving in the American Bible belt.

Star Talk Radio "bridges the intersection between pop-culture and science". Host Neil deGrasse Tyson (your personal astrophysicist) and occasionally substitute host Bill Nye the Science Guy. Some shows feature an interview with a guest, who may be involved in the sciences or may be a figure of pop culture with a personal interest in it (such as Lawrence Fishburne, GZA, Dan Akroyd and Hank Azaria), other shows feature "Cosmic Queries" in which Neil or a knowledgable guest answer a grab-back of science questions from the audience. Regular co-hosts generally alternate between comedians Eugene Merman and Chuck Nice.

Oh hell yes, I thought I was the only one who listened to this. Can’t get enough of it.

Besides the F Plus, I listen to:

Giant Bombcast, Giant Bomb’s weekly gaming podcast. It runs for maybe 3 hours per episode and often deviates from the subject of games. If you enjoy GB’s site content you’ll probably want to listen to this.
Retsutalk, if you’re a nerd who likes Let’s Plays then this might be interesting to you. Made by two of the people who originally started/popularized LP.
BNWYDSE, run by the creators of the (now finished) Marble Hornets web series. They’re pretty funny guys and they cover a fairly broad range of topics.

I've been meaning to try Doug Stanhope's podcast. He's like Gilbert, but more depressing.

I listen to a podcast about Seinfeld called Seincast. Yep. Cool guy right here.

I would like to listen to more podcasts but I get overwhelmed whenever I even consider doing so. Maybe one day I'll work up the guts.

Opie and Anthony is pretty funny too, depending on the guest. Especially when Louie CK's on.

Mine tend to skew towards the skepticism realm, simply because the first podcast I started listening to was about conspiracy theories and most of the rest are hosted by people who were guests who appeared on that one.

The Conspiracy Skeptic: Started off as one guy doing a solo podcast about his favourite conspiracy theories. After a few eps he started having guests on to discuss their own favourite conspiracy.

Exposing Pseudoastronomy: Hosted by an astronomer/geophysicist, this one is about debunking various theories (sometimes of a conspiracy kind also) in the field of astronomy. Ranging from Young-Earth-Creationism, Planet X, 2012 Mayan Apocalypse (in the archives), to all sorts of NASA IS EVIL AND HIDING THE TRUTH conspiracies. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone with an interest in science.

Irreligiosophy: Initially hosted by two former Mormons living in Utah, now hosted by one of those guys and a former Catholic. Discusses religion and woo from an atheist perspective. Highlights include insight into the ridiculousness of Mormonism, and episodes where the hosts research and discuss the history and beliefs of a range of other religions. Extremely crude and often amusing.

Other podcasts that are less regular but I listen to when they put something out include:
The Daily Show Podcast Without Jon Stewart
Double Fine Action Cast

:

What the hell is there left to say about Seinfeld?

Then you're not listening to good ones, or in the right way. They're best done while on a walk, doing work or chores, exercising, playing a game. I put science lectures on while I play mutliplayer. I learn and dominate at the same time.

Podcasts make great background noise when doing something mundane and sedentary, like desk work.

They're like the Internet equivalent of leaving the TV on for your dog.

Starting listening to some Retsutalk since I've loved slowbeef and diabetus for years. Didn't even realize they had a podcast til now, somehow. Good stuff, particularly enjoyed the episode about Dark Souls.

I like checking out TotalBiscuit's soundcloud page. There are the True Story podcasts which are all good in their own way. Currently listening through Chris Moyles' back catalogue of podcasts, up to his 2011 set now. Many laughs and many classic moments and in-jokes. I miss that show a lot.

I use music for all of these activities because listening to people just talk makes an already mundane task more mundane for me.

I also require visuals or a hands on activity relating to what I'm learning if I'm learning anything at all.

Dont know how i forgot about The Final Split. My favourite Speedrunning podcast. Not as popular as the Sunday Sequence break, but I find the final split more entertaining. They talk about whats happening in the community, events, have guests on, talk about records etc. Its really cool if ur into Speedrunning.

Well, you're welcome to join the discussion if you find a podcast you like. This is unfortunately not the 'What do you enjoy hearing during tactile experiences' thread though.

I listen to Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast occasionally. He's a very intelligent and witty comedian (occasionally joined by his now Wife) but I find that his extremely honest style of being pissed off about everything rubs off pretty easily, so I take a break occasionally. He's my favourite stand-up comedian (Jim Gaffigan and Louis CK coming up close behind) but if one guy answering emails isn't your thing the MMPC might not be for you.

Also he's incredibly caustic and vivid.

Creature Talk I'm a big fan of The Creatures, having been watching their individual channels for nearly 3 years. They're all let's players and talk about various news within the gaming world, and what's going on in their lives. The chemistry between everyone is always pretty great and it makes pleasant background noise, like most podcasts.

I highly recommend Mysterious Universe.

Its about science, the paranormal and new technologies from all around the world. Its 2 Australian guys and they take every article with a bit of salt by trying to look at all angles of the stories, photos, calls, videos new etc. Either to disprove/prove/entertain the theories they cover.

Its really interesting and they like to have fun with it so its not crazy serious all the time. Some of the stuff they cover though is crazy and creepy as sin. Most of their topics each week are interesting and they analyze a lot of videos and photos they find.

Its really decent and i'd love to see what you guys think of it.

also, Rick and Morty season 2 when?

Anyone who's on my Facebook friends list may have been able to work out that I've started listening to 'No Such Thing As A Fish', a podcast from the QI Elves. I avoided it for a while as I assumed all the best material went into the tv show, but it's actually really great. Really fascinating and hilarious stuff and some witty repartee.

Yeah, this is pretty much the podcast that I listen to, mostly because I'm a big fan of the Marble Hornets guys so I like hearing about what they have to talk about. It's pretty entertaining and they're guarantee to crack me up at least twice every episode. I like how well they communicate with their fans too, it's really cool. I've actually sent them a couple of emails which they read on the podcast, which was pretty neat for me. One of which was this really ridiculous bullshit I sent to them as a joke, and it was almost surreal to hear them read that email out loud because of how absurd and silly I made it.

I've listened to the Rooster Teeth podcast before and I checked out the first few episodes of Welcome to Nightvale, which were pretty damn interesting and and immersive. I feel kind of bad that I never stuck with Nightvale because I think it'd really dig the whole thing. Should probably pick it up again, but podcasts have always been kind of hard for me to get into, with the exception of the Marble Hornets guys. If I try to listen to one while doing something, I usually end up focusing too much on what I'm doing, even if it's something trivial or mindless.

I've actually sent them a couple of emails which they read on the podcast, which was pretty neat for me. One of which was this really ridiculous bullshit I sent to them as a joke, and it was almost surreal to hear them read that email out loud because of how absurd and silly I made it.
Did you write one of those crazy scam emails they always get? I love those things.

You mean those emails from Mr. Oreo? Not me unfortunately, those emails are gold though. I did that email about Tim being a fake and that the real Tim wanted to duel him. Pretty sure they had Tim leave the room, too, when they read it.

That’s even better, they actually ended the episode with that too.

It’s like talk radio for internet celebrities, basically. Not usually much music though, because copyright.
