Here's a preliminary sketch for an A2 charcoal I'm working on.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Nice work, Sydney. It's done well enough to have a genuine eeriness about it. Simply outstanding!

I can see what Pilot means; the simplicity only adds to its effect. When you look at it, it's actually composed of a few outlines and simple shapes, and yet it's so obvious what it is. I like it.

Are they crows/ravens, or just some anonymous birds?

Id tink they'd look nice as Crows. Cos then you could possibly name it "A Murder of Crows" which is basically what they call a flock of Crows. Nice work.

Thanks. Yes, the birds are supposed to be crows.

Dragadon, I'm actually using that film as a reference to my series! I'm doing a series of eight drawings on the topic of birds. I'm trying to convey a sense of impending insanity, as though one little thing would be enough to make one crack (imagine someone firing a gun near the tree, and the birds suddenly flying off).

By the way, my new personal photo is Tippi Hedren, the beautiful actor who played the main character in 'The Birds'.

I'm going to reply to the other topics this afternoon, right now I've got to get going.

Mmm, yes, very nice, Syd. The boldness of the bird silhouettes adds a very dramatic look to the whole picture. And, like everyone else has mentioned, the simplicity of the tree really does add effect. I like this piece very much and hope to see more in the future.

Very, very nice work. You know what it reminds me of? "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins", perhaps Dr. Seuss's most visually engaging work, and another beautiful example of the light-handed shading technique you seem to have embraced. Impressive.
