I think it depends on the person. At school I see alot of students wanting to do this job, and I see a few who just don't try hard at school, mess around, who want be game desgners. But the're some who try hard , and want this very much, and are going to work hard for it. So the ones who want it most should enjoy what their doing what they want.

Mmmm, I think those people who mess around expect game design to be easy, a job where you do 'cool stuff' and sit around half of the time. I don't think they have the concept of 'game design/virtualy every job out there=deadlines' figured out yet. Though there are those who will find that it's just not for them.
For my dream job, I'm not sure...I'd like to do research(don't know the proper name, I'll describe) on African Wild Dogs, though another animal would be good too. The sort of thing where you follow 'em around and get to recognise the different packs and individuals, track their movements, study their behaviour, write down the details. There's a working inside part to that too, properly compiling the data and getting a better picture of the species behaviour in general.
Or. Doing some sort of artwork for a game company. I'm not to sure on this though, I'd need to look into it a bit more, I don't know if I could do artsy stuff for a living, though my art teacher says I'm pretty good.
