Dream Jobs

I got good news. Out of no-where, I recently got a job at the only big cat sanctuary we have here in the Netherlands. For me, this is totaly awsome since its the only goal I was chasing trough my school and everything around that. I always thought it would take me years and years of school to even be able to get a license to work with tigers, lions and all the stuff like that. And last week, it dropped in on my lap just like that. Instead of waiting a live time, I just have to wait a few more days to start practising out my dream job! Wheehoo!!

Anyway, now that we are on the subject. What is your dreamjob, and do you intend to do everything you can to get it?

Wow, good to see you got a job you like, as for me, I'm not dreaming for a job, I'm confident I will acheive my job, a graphical designer for Lionhead Studios. Basically, I wanna do stuff like make 3d models for a games company.

That's great new Havoc! I'm happy for you.

As for me, not very sure, but something along the lines of being a production designer for a games developer.

You wouldn't have much of a social life if all you want is money. Dream jobs are something you do for a living, but that's up to you.

Well, I've always grown up around money, so it's kind of like the driving force behind my life. But I don't want to live my life living off of mum or dad's money. My mum's always like 'when you're older, I'll buy you a house and a cars and you can have as much money as you want.' but I don't wanna live off of their riches, they should be allowed to reap the rewards of their successful days (my mum's projectorial director at Accenture, dad owns mobile phone shop chain.) I wanna get like them on my own. I'll be able to sustain a social life too-I love partying and socializing.

Actually a dream job is more like a paid hobby, rather than something you do to earn a living. It's like someone removing "do something to earn a living" from your 'things to do' list for the next 5 to 20 years.

Some people get dream job and ideal job mixed up. An ideal job is one that you really want, and would be the job that you would have in an ideal situation. A dream job on the other hand is extremely unlikely to present itself to you. A good example of a dream job is being a rock star, or full time pro skateboarder like Tony Hawk or Bam Margera.

And Soulstice, by "stockbroker" I assume you mean working on the stock exchange floor. These people are actually "stock market traders". A stockbroker by definition is a company or organisation of market traders who act as a middleman between the market and investors. They sell you stock, or buy stock from you, in other words. The traders who work on the floor of the stock exchange are quickly being replaced by electronic systems.

Dream job (Notice the space! Do not omit the space!). Hmm. I'd probably like to be one of those marine biologist guys that travel around collecting specimens of exciting new species from the deep sea. Like in that one show on the Science Channel.

I doubt I'm going to pursue that, though. I'm very fickle at this point in time about what I want to do when I'm older.

Heh, Hobo. I had the same reaction when I saw the word "dreamjob".

Well, my impossible dream job is to dominate the Earth, but as long as we are speaking realistically, I have 3.

-Writer (Books)
-Director (Films)
-Developer (Games)

Potentially, I'll intern with Oddworld Inhabitants or Double Fine for the third one, so hooray!

Hmm to thoes who want to design video games. I have talked to a couple former designers and they have all hated it. I think that it is a lot of pressure and deadlines and stuff. At least that was the impression I got from a guy in my class that worked on the programing for Morrowind: Elder Scrolls. If you love it though, go for it.

I would love to be a voice actor. It sounds like fun and I can get behind any job that you dont have to dress up for.

There is no doubt! You will be a marine biologist with me and you will like it! And if you find some new species, I will sneak and take all the credit for it. What fun it shall be!

This HAS to be accomplished by at least one of us... Get rid of these so called NZ 'bands'. I can't name one NZ band that I like... All just bad hip-hop, or wannabe rock.

I hope to do also, in the same area. Please suceed in your dream

I would either like to work for a major comic company like Marvel, or start an Indie comic series and work on that.

I have so many good ideas for comics that it seems a shame to let them go to waste.

A stockbroker invests in the stock market for individuals or corporations. Only members of the LSE can actually process transactions, so whenever individuals or corporations want to buy or sell stocks they must go through a brokerage house. Stockbrokers often advise and inform their clients on appropriate investments. Brokers explain the workings of the stock exchange to their clients and gather information from them about their needs and financial ability, and then determine the best investments for them. The broker then sends the order out to the floor of the LSE by computer or by phone. When the transaction has been made, the broker supplies the client with the price. The buyer pays for the stock and the broker transfers the title of the stock to the client and performs clearing and settlement procedures.

Basically, this is what I want to do. I know it's just going into further detail on what you said, but what the hey.

Mmmm, I think those people who mess around expect game design to be easy, a job where you do 'cool stuff' and sit around half of the time. I don't think they have the concept of 'game design/virtualy every job out there=deadlines' figured out yet. Though there are those who will find that it's just not for them.

For my dream job, I'm not sure...I'd like to do research(don't know the proper name, I'll describe) on African Wild Dogs, though another animal would be good too. The sort of thing where you follow 'em around and get to recognise the different packs and individuals, track their movements, study their behaviour, write down the details. There's a working inside part to that too, properly compiling the data and getting a better picture of the species behaviour in general.

Or. Doing some sort of artwork for a game company. I'm not to sure on this though, I'd need to look into it a bit more, I don't know if I could do artsy stuff for a living, though my art teacher says I'm pretty good.

"Get the job you've always wanted and you'll never work a day for the rest of your life." - Chinese guy.

I've always wanted to be an actress or author. Lately I've also been a bit interested in working with something involving art, but I'm not good enough. I'm studying for acting, which is a very bad idea since 80% of all actors are unemployed. In both jobs you need a lot of luck and acting requires good looks. It's actually a bit worrying. But still, they're the only professions I have ever been interested in. I'll just have to wait and see how it works out for me. I guess my interests could change too.
